Crossposting from Reddit, but I wanted to share my expereinces and questions that were answered after getting my 25 Mav this weekend and driving 800miles for the first drive.

I’ve added:
  • RoughCountry bed mat and tri-fold tonneau
  • tailgate dampener
  • Mabett mudflaps

First thoughts after 800 miles:
  • I wish the blind spot system made a chime/ding
  • Lane assist (not alert) was really nice on the road trip. Not centering, but definitely was helpful the few times I would stray when taking a drink of water, adjusting how I was sitting, etc.
  • Couldnt connect to FordPass yet, but based on MTC forums, seems to be a Ford issue
  • CarPlay had to restart twice on the 12 hour trip when I was multitasking: Google Maps, Audible audiobook, and taking a longer phone call simultaneously did the trick. It quickly reconnected within 20 seconds, so not that annoying once I saw the signs of it coming (maps froze, and person on call started cutting out)
  • the screen is awesome. Got used to climate controls very quickly-- can also adjust AC with voice control, so it was a non-issue.
  • Holy heated seats. I'm pretty sure I lowered my sperm count on the 3 setting. Heated steering wheel was clutch. Also awesome that it auto turns on at certain cold temps outdoors.
  • Easy entry on the driver and passenger door handles is nice (to lock and unlock)
  • All my worries about not having "power" from 191hp hybrid were all put to rest. My previous car was a 2012 350hp turbo diesel SUV.
  • mudflaps were clutch on the long trip. they were covered in some paint like residue afterwards, and nothing on the truck.
  • Seats were way more comfortable than I thought. I'm 6-1, 200lbs and was able to move my legs freely bc of the low center console
  • Small cupholders and bottle holders were unfriendly to my current bottles
  • The brakes had WAY less bite than my friends 23 mav.
RC tonneau thoughts
  • Install was very easy, 2 people makes it even easier. 30 mins with 2, 45 with one
  • I used to have a BakFlip in 2018 and the difference in opening mechanism is slightly diff. not a cable but rather a pinch and pull switch mechanism to unlock from either side
  • Quality wise it seems similar to what I can remember. Comes with a good amount of weather stripping, and I used some of the extra to plug corners. I’ll follow up after a rain!
  • I also noticed LOTS of rubber sealing from every piece, which was nice to see.
  • one QC issue on the steel clamps. The machining for one of the screw holes wasn’t fully bored, so the adjustment know one of the clamps could not go through. I’ll email them for another clamp.
  • I have the tri fold, NOT the low profile one

  • I used to have a BakFlip in 2018 and the difference in opening mechanism is slightly diff. You have to simultaneously unlatch both left and right at the same time to open each fold, which requires you to be in the bed when doing so. IIRC the BakFlip has a single pull cable and you can open from one side. Not really a deal breaker, but some can find as “less convenient”

The first thing I was missing in my Maverick, was, like you mentioned, no chime when someone was in your blind spot. If you have a passanger on your right, blocking your view of the mirror, it becomes dangerous taking your eyes off what's in front of your to look into the mirror. Second thing, was no homelink for a vehicle that fits in a garage.

No chime??? Do you know how often that would go off???
Do you not use the rearview mirror when passing? When you see the headlights of the vehicle you're overtaking in your rearview mirror you are clear to move back over.
Its ok to take quick glances to your sides when driving. :)

so in some rentals I’ve been in (this is the newest car I’ve own in almost 10 years), a chime will trigger only when you flip your signal AND someone is in your blind spot. I check anyways bc I’ve never had it, but it was nice to have in the rental I used

Ahh, OK, that makes more sense!!!
Yes, that is a nice feature that is present in my other vehicles. Never noticed it wasn't in the Maverick. I thought you meant having it chime anytime a vehicle was in the blind spot. I think it flashes in the Mav if you try to change lanes on someone???

The chime only goes off when you turn on your signal if someone is in your blind spot. If you don't signal that your moving out of your lane, no chime, just shows that there's someone passing you.

Also miss the Homelink garage door opener. Waiting for delivery of my accessories. Can't wait to install the tonneau cover, mudflaps & hood & tailgate dampeners
