Looks like It was super strong and died protecting you.

A 2021 Bronco Sport fell off the top of a car hauler and the Fire department needed to practice with the 'Jaws of Life'
It was their first new Unibody In quite some time.
They had opened many other Unibody cars and SUV's at less than half power,
The Hydraulics was nearly maxed out spreading the Bronco Sport. Follow me ?

That's why on My Insurance policy for about $110 extra a year,
'If I get totaled' I get a new Zero mile never titled Maverick
of equal value of the window sticker.

No wait, 'If I get totaled', Not Me ! The Truck The Truck!
I just wanted to clarify this.

What you want the truck to hold up while killing or severely injuring the passengers. o_O

Crumple zones are there to save you from injuries (or death).

The truck can be replaced with insurance you and your passengers not so much.
This was my first thought too. My 20 year old mustang was put down after keeping me alive in a t-bone accident after some bozzo ran a red light. I was heartbroken to loose it but thankful it held together just enough to keep me from being killed. I had to be cut out of it because I was pinned between the crumpled door and centre console.

I did it driving truck, and alot of other truckers did it, too.

Then you have to remember to turn the flashers back off once the traffic gets back up to speed. Doh! 😏

I personally noticed alot of aggressive driving during the pandemic, when traffic volumes dropped, atleast locally. People driving very fast in residential areas. It never seemed like it went back to what I thought was normal. Maybe I'm just getting older, crotchetier and it's not as different as it feels to me?
There are alot of aggressive, distracted, and angry drivers out there, and I know that's not just in my head.
NO its NOT that your getting old..
The World is Full of buffoons.. :(

Something, I learn over the past two years of Maverick ownership...
Vehicles today are made to "prolong a crash". Which at first, sounds Stupid.
But, by prolonging the event, you dissipate the shock and harmful energy...
As we now See... ;)

please add me to the "do it all the time" list

just did it thursday night coming through everett in I5: come around what basically amounts to a blind corner & all I see is cars swerving & brake lights..as I was hitting hte brakes (or is it breaks?), reached up & hit the flashers...

yeah, we've got big 'ol ICC bumpers on the trailers as well as a hydraulic lift gate, but even if I get hit & it's not my fault, I gotta go take a pi$$ test & fill out reams of paperwork..just so much easier to give those behind a warning

I had a buddy that was driving his 1971 Camaro through a green light and got T-boned.
Traffic stopped in front of him, he was trapped.
A Ford LTD 2 door of the 1972 flavor Gob smacked him at 50 mph.

My buddy was a fast one, of mind and body thank God !
He saw it and had the skills to un buckle and snatch his girlfriend out of the passenger seat.

After the crash he and I went to the junk yard to get his stuff,
we measured, There was exactly five and a half inches between the steel I-beam center support door and the Stamped metal center console wrapped in vinyl.
She was a size 12.

You speak Truth Brother. I logged 3.2 million miles with a five state tag in the south, and North Dakota and Canada.
Then West Germany In tractor trailers on the Autobahn was a blast. We had one K whopper over there. A big girl, 240 Inch wheel base and 500 ponies with near twice that In torque.

Ten ton Mercedes, we had 20 of those, (Air Force) the two wheels out front steered with the help of the two full size wheels steering behind the cab over body with one set of dual's pushing.
The Transmission was the bomb. An Eight Inch Shifter with an eight speed double H with a three speed differential. 24 gears and we used them all.
A pattern like a seven series BMW.
It shifted short and fast, no need for double clutching but we used the clutch brake all the time.
Loved the sound of bleeding off compression.

I was dragging an empty 54 ft goose neck down the Autobahn right above where the Germans build Tiger Tanks, There were Anti Aircraft missiles on every mountain peak, I was able to spot about 30 pods as I drove by so many times.

I was doing 100 kph/63 mph,
A Rubber cleated German Tiger Tank pulled up next to me signaling a right turn down a cloverleaf exit. The driver with only his helmeted head and goggled eyes above the Armor
turned and looked at me, then he shot me a peace sign.

I watch him floor that thing already doing 63 mph. He never let off the throttle, big column of black smoke shooting out the ass of that massive battle tank.
all the way around that clover leaf. He laid on the brakes at the bottom. and was stopped so fast
It looked like a UFO.

Yeah, my Stang was a '91, no side airbag and the one in the steering wheel did not deploy because it was a side impact. The driver's door was pushed in over a foot and the door frame bent up into an "A" shape buckling the roof right over to the opposite side. They had to cut out the door and snip the bottom 1/2 of the steering wheel off to get me out. I received life changing injuries but thankfully no head injury. Needless to say, I always look at the crash ratings when I buy a new vehicle. My other serious accident was on a Motocycle and once again not my fault. I did not replace the bike!

So many Mavericks getting hit, and almost always totaled. It's worrying, especially since in my area it's almost a daily occurrence to be sitting at a light, and look in the rearview mirror to see an idiot screech to a halt at the last second. I drive like everyone is an idiot that's out to get me.

Ever since I got rear-ended while in my sister’s car (the dumbass kid said “I looked up and you were right there!!”), when I’m braking or stopped at a light, I tap the brakes a few times until I can see that the idiot behind me is slowing down.

Whenever you hit your brakes, always check the rear-view mirror to see what’s coming.

Yep and I ride a bike almost as much as I am in a cage these days, way more time on the bike than in a cage back in the day. Maybe that is why I am so adamant about watching my rear, always stopped it in such a way that I had a way out incase the idiot coming from behind suddenly became blind, only had to use the escape route once but glad I had it planned ahead of time. No crumple zones on the bike, so you learn what works and use it, didn't get to nearly 70 years old by being a dumbass, drive smart and keep an eye on whats going on all around you at all times.

Well I always do and have never been rear ended. So I guess it works.
I do the same quite often, before even stopping, school buses stopped, traffic stopped on highway, any time in stopping without light or stop sign

I have never come close to being rear-ended since I've gotten my Maverick, but in the 6 months I've owned it I've had four or five cars pull out in front of me. I'm like, what am I freaking invisible? Couple days ago a UPS truck started to pull out and if I didn't hit my brakes he would have slammed right into my side. And then he gave me a look, like he was saying, "sowwy.".

After reading about the accidents that people have had I thought well things happen. But I've had more close calls in the 6 months of this Maverick than I did in the previous 20 or 25 years of driving my Camry and my Plymouth Voyager. There must be something about the Maverick.
I’ve only had my 2025 for 450 miles and I’ve had at 4-5 really close calls where I’ve thought “this idiot looks like they’re going to pull out in front of/into me….holy shit this idiot IS turning right into me”

Thought it was just me thinking this was happening because it’s a new truck but damn if it isn’t a real thing.

You're braver than me. I rode dirt bikes as a teenager, I wouldn't feel safe on the roads now on just 2 wheels.

I don't blame you, the drivers these days really don't watch out for anyone but themselves for the most part. I have over a million miles on two wheels and always ride like everyone is out to kill me. That way I get pleasantly surprised everytime they don't.
