We didn't get any details...but the latest communication to dealers from Ford about this recall did indicate that parts would be involved (all they actually said was that "delays in final repair and parts availability" were anticipated).

If screens are the same between XLTs and Lariats and if all processing is within the sync module, then we are getting sync 3 or stripped down sync 3 meaning all the processing power but w/o some lariat features.

not easy to procure 200k + modules.

My dealer also confirmed that hard parts will be needed. Per Ford Rep.

I think to save $ they will try to modify/add memory/processing power somehow.... or use a different camera that will work better with the weak non-sync 3 APIM.

They tried that in the beginning with XL and XLT's
How did that work out?

Do we know exactly what was tried?? I haven't seen any details about what they did (or didn't) change for 24s and why they had to add those to the recall too.

My 22 XLT hasn't had any APIM updates. I have had a frozen/delayed camera on rare occasions (as well as glitchy "sync" more frequently, but still not commonly).
Unless something was updated along with some other update....I think my APIM software is at mid-build 22 levels.
I haven't had any major issues myself, so I haven't much research on the issue.... I'll peak in some of the technical hotline reports and see if anything jumps out.

Screens are different..one is resistive, one is capacitive if I recall correctly. But I doubt there's a difference in display or input capability.

If there's a fix before my '25 is delivered I may consider a '24, if it includes better hardware or sync 3+

Well, I learned one thing! The non-sync 3 Mavericks don't even have an APIM!! I assumed they still had an APIM, just a stripped down version.

"All audio and infotainment operations are housed in the ACM" (ACM = audio control module)

What I meant, was Ford cheaped out by not putting SYNC in the Maverick XL and XLT'S to begin with.
Maybe it was supply chain issues.
Even for Ford $169,000,000 fine (government version of a 2x4 upside the head) along with a stop sale of thousands of aging new 2024 XLT and xl has to be felt.
If they decide on what turns out to be an inadequate fix. I hope they get fined again.

I do think that decision was due to the chip shortages (and trying to save money)!

"All audio and infotainment operations are housed in the ACM" (ACM = audio control module)
So an update there would require updates to all the other modules that receive/send info to the ACM, if it was upgraded to an APIM.

Would this be the same?

Yes both absolutely. There's no reason that there should have been one factory supplying 90% of semiconductor chips.
That is the proverbial all your eggs in one basket and that basket is owned by somebody else.

ACM looks to be a separate part to switch the screen and I assume rearview camera etc plug into.

If that is the case we are getting new ACMs and nothing else.

Your numbers aren't part numbers, but rather software numbers.
I assume that more changes than simply adding APIM would be needed for it to work, but I am not a technician!

The APIM would be something in addition to the ACM.

The ACM in 22-24 non-SYNC 3 Mavericks is:
MX7Z-18806-A

For 22-24 SYNC 3 Mavericks:
ACM is M1PZ-18K810-B
APIM is LU5Z-14G371-DJ

****Note, these modules are not ordered directly from Ford..... It may be possible that updated part numbers would show up when ordering. I'm just going by what Ford's Ecat is currently showing!!****

For all 25 Mavericks,
There are 5 ACMs: S1PZ-18806-A, -B, -C, -D, -E. (depending on radio type)
APIM is SZ6Z-14G371-BMA or SZ6Z-14G371-CYA (w/ connected navigation).
