So, I was on the fence about getting a topper, because cost and usage. The cost side I felt like spending $3500 a fiberglass topper was too rich for me. My thoughts on using a hard topper were for camping and hauling stuff once in a while, which seemed not worth cost for low usage.

I was looking for alternatives from soft topper to Flated topper. But still a grand plus to only use it a few times a year still seemed like a bridge to far. However, I was reading a post on here or the reddit page about flated topper returns for about $850 ish. So I was looking at it but with shipping and tax it still was a little rich for me.

Anyhow, I check evilBay for any listing and found only 2 listings. One was a low cap for $550 and a higher top one for $899. After shipping and tax the low top one was $600ish and the high top on was pushing a grand. Well the choice was easy to make and boy was I happy when I got a new in box never inflated topper.

I inflated it for the first time and installed it in about 45 minutes. I Left it on for a week and it passed QA perfectly. UnInflated it and stored it on a shelf in the garage then ordered a dac end cap tent for $195 from the jungle store.

Long story short I'm stocked and can't wait for the summer camping to try out my new toys!

🤓 🤔 I would like to see a picture of it where it’s flattened. The link you have listed there does not work.

For the tailgate end to fasten securely, don’t you have to permanently attach a Velcro strip to your tailgate? I think that was the dealbreaker for me when these first came out. Well, price too, but you got a good deal on the price.

The price is what keeps me from it, I would like to use one in the winter time especially but maybe I'll go the route you did and look for a used one locally.

Be sure to keep us posted on the tail gate tent. I’m interested in one.
Yep I'll take some extra pictures all together when I get the dac mid tent.

Naw, not permanently attached. They used double sided tape but I just didn't, it worked fine you just have to realign it to the vinyl windows hook and loop. I watch a video from one of the founders and he was into the removable aspect of it.

The plastic cover that makes up the top of the tailgate looks like it's easily replaced if you ever want to get rid of the Velcro. It doesn't look like an expensive part either

I'm curious : how thick are the walls and roof once inflated?

I wish I could get Flated to come up with a piece to connect the top of the Air-topper to the bottom of the open tailgate. I have bugged them for almost a year. I love my Air-topper but with the missing piece I could sleep in the bad.

Question for you and every Flated owner.

Say I put big, heavy cargo in the back first.
And I do that first because I need to put it in the bed with a forklift and tie it down really well.

Is it practical to put the flated topper on last?

Can I tie down the larger style flated topper after my cargo is in? Perhaps through the windows on the model with side windows?

Thanks.

Sure, as long as the load doesn't stop you from reaching the tie down point. It comes with ratchet straps and doesn't need to be heavily strapped to stay in place on the highway.

Or put another way, I only lightly cinched down the straps and it didn't move at all while driving 65 mph.

So to confirm:

There is no tie down point, and no need to reach in by hand along the truck cab window glass. Correct?

When adding the topper after my intended cargo, the truck glass, that whole side would be inaccessible.

Thanks for helping me decide if one is right for me.

Won't need the bug screen on the sides.
And the side "window" attaches to the outside. Correct?

So if I'm understanding you correctly you want to reach in through the side windows to attach to bed. I don't have side windows on mine but the larger ones do so I would think you could reach through with one arm to attach to the d-rings. Maybe someone with a large cap can chime in for a better understanding.
