FX4 vs. Tremor has been discussed at length, but I recently had a personal experience with the decision. Video pretty much explains it all for those who are interested.

For those who aren't, here's the short version: FX4 plus 4K Tow trumps Tremor.

Every individual has different needs. The reason why I ordered the tremor was because I'm on the beach a lot as a fisherman and I wanted the lock up rear end option.
Ford Maverick Why I Turned Down My 2023 Tremor and Kept My Lifted 2022 FX4 Mav 1
Because of this I also wanted the extra height. I won't be towing anything very heavy so I'm not worrying too much about that however I did install a set of rear airbags that will help me get a little extra towing capacity being that the tremor springs have a different load range then the FX4. I won't be overloading my vehicle with any excess weight. Enjoy your FX 4. :giggle:

I've often thought - find someone that loves you like @pa-outdoorsman loves his FX4.

End of the day - (even though I have one ordered) the Tremor comes up way short with the felt and plastic underlying and hilarious front fascia that is plastic around the radiator. Had Ford actually added legit protection to the Tremor where it would warrant using the RDU it would be another discussion.

Texas Trucks basically showed the limitations. The limited or non-existent skid plates, and no low range gearing to take advantage of the approach and departure angles.

I still get super excited to see a Tremor - and I'll enjoy seeing mine - but I am passing on mine for the reasons above most likely.

Agreed, there is no right or wrong answer. Only what is right FOR YOU!

I thought the Tremor was really nice, but since I'd already lifted my FX4 the extra ride height advantage was negated.

In the end, I just could see switching horses when I was only a couple miles down the trail.

curious, were you aware of those short-comings before ordering the Tremor or were you hoping Ford was going to go a bit further to firm up the truck?

I was a Hybrid orderer that was unlikely to get built - so I went Tremor given the choice. I did not know that the plastic front fascia wouldn't protect the radiator - I was aware of no low gearing.

thanks! I wasn't asking to be critical of anything... it's just so many of us were attempting to place orders in september with sooo little information to go on... hopefully we will know more for MY2024.

I still love the Tremor - I think @pa-outdoorsman probably made the right call. For me personally - I will definitely beat up the underside and need a little more truck - so I'm leaning Trail Boss or another Bronco.

We unfortunately won't ever see one - but a Tremor with a tune on the 2.0L, proper skid plates, and 4K towing would be peak Maverick.

All towing aside(which I wont be doing much anyways). A Tremor, spec'd the same way as my original FX4K, comes out just a few hundred dollars more but with all the upgrades. Once I put a lift kit on it. It will be everything the FX4K I ordered originally(and would have had to lift to last on our road) would have been. Gonna do a 1.5" lift (havent decided on spacer or spring yet, depends on how I like the factory ride). Also gonna put air bags in the rear and change up to 245/70r17 Goodyear Duratracs or Maxxis Bighorn MTs. If I ever have to tow anything other that the trailer I own(2000lb max loaded), I will just use my 96 Bronco. We are super excited and cant wait for our June pickup trip!

 Just some extra notes I would like to add to my first post on the subject my Tremor did come with the luxury package and it did come with the leather or as you call it pleather steering wheel. So I don't understand why he said in the video that he couldn't get those options on the Tremor..

I will be making my own skid plates eventually. Its pretty easy fabrication wise. 4K towing the only thing holding it back is soft rear springs and a regular sized radiator. A spring swap and cooling mods isnt all that complex either. I could care less about approved ratings at the 2 ton level, I've hand pulled trailers around the loading yard at a fence company heavier than that.

All fair points - but I think you'll struggle to get a skid plate or protection over the radiator, where the Mav without low gearing needs it the most in case you need to bump an obstacle with a little momentum.

Just feels like with the Maverick the Tremor was a little half baked compared to what they made it with the Ranger, F150, and Super Duty - that's all.

I never said I couldn't get them. I said my order didn't have the Luxury Package. I tried to add it in after the fact and I couldn't. So, my Tremor ended up not having the luxury package. Never said you couldn't get it on any Tremors.

It would have been a more difficult decision had my order had the luxury package.
