I've been waiting for this for ages. The guy I most trust takes a quick look. I so wish he'd tear it down. Ignore the fact that the video starts with another car. The presenter is Carl, who is the design specialist at Munro. When he talks interiors, a smart person listens.

To soon, the Queen just past away!
Having same trim and colored truck for 7 months didn’t learn much new.
However, loved the music and truck glamour views at truck intro. Also mirror his experience with driving habits and lack the need for cruise control.

Got some good insight on the XL I’m considering. Thanks for posting.

Spent a lot of time talking drink holder and console. Let’s not forget you become accustomed to what you use daily and will do the same on another vehicle. He made some good points. But I prefer long term test reviews. I’m happy with mine for the money.

I never had a problem with the XL but I needed cruise control. No way was I ever going to tolerate the orange trim of the XLT! I am happy with my Lariat!!

As much as you have a Lariat, for the benefit of people reading a topic about the XL trim:

Cruise control can be added for maybe $100 in switches from Ford, plus a programming cable and license. It might make more financial sense to find someone in the area with a FORScan cable and a license and pay them a few bucks to activate the cruise control after you purchase and install the switches.

It's a shame that they did not cover the quality of life stuff like the standard LED headlights, standard Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, the auto brake hold, the 12V power pigtails, and the general DIY ease of the flexbed and FITS points.

But they did spend time on pointing out bad fit and finish. While I agree that should be called out, I just find it odd that they didn't talk about the stuff like I mentioned.

I understand your point on the orange. You can minimize the orange effect by going with the black XL console divider or aftermarket pieces. My idea for that little orange tray is to cut a piece of .062 thick rubber sheet and place inside that tray. It will just have an orange trim edge. I can handle the other orange accents.

Remember that Munro Associates isn't a car reviewing site. They are an engineering firm that tears down cars to generate detailed cost and technology reports for competitors. Alas, I think they no longer tear down non-BEV vehicles (because they're dinosaurs that no report buyers are interested in). So there is no Maverick tear down pending.

You have to take this video for what it is. It's a highly experienced interior design engineer taking a coworker's Maverick for a quick spin. He's looking at the car from a design engineer's standpoint, not from an auto journalist viewpoint.

I'm really disappointed they no longer tear down ICE vehicles. It would have been cool to see what they found. If anybody on the forum cares to donate their Maverick to Munro along with a few hundred thousand dollars or so to pay for the teardown, we'd all appreciate that.

The point I took away from this quick look is the same point I took away from Savage Geese review, which was titled : "All is Forgiven at $20,000". The Maverick is the cheapest of the cheap, and that's OK with buyers (us). Maverick is a hit BECAUSE it is a cheap entry level vehicle that delivers a lot of utility for the money. Not because it's a rolling quality showcase. If you buy a Walmart special, you don't expect a Rolex in your shopping cart.

Seems like he is nitpicking little things, it is a $20,000 truck. How many people drive with their arms straight out? You can move the seat a little forward. I'm 6 foot and likes to drive like I'm a NASCAR driver closer to the wheel LoL. If you're talking adding $3,000-$4,000 for seat covers get a lariat you'll get a lot more extras. Where are you paying for seat covers 😳 LoL. Those are just my thoughts. Love my XLT 5,000 miles later I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
