Here’s a comparison for reference

^^ Looks good..

Will the stock Maverick fuel system adequately support the 2.3 turbo?

The stock fuel system is good to around 375 +/- whp. Livernois was working on a 2.3 injector swap that in theory would allow us to run straight E85 but that was paused because they went to SEMA.
I believe once system is addressed, the transmission will be the next major hurdle. If the trans can take it, this turbo is capable of breaking the 500 whp mark.

So I’ll jump in this thread.

So as I do most work with Livernois I will be bringing them my maverick as soon as it shows up.
The injectors they should have figured out with a bit of work but I will be the hpfp will be the hold up. They did true flex fuel setup on my 16 focus rs with a nx2 turbo. Using hpfp and injectors.
first question if the ranger turbo fits with downpipe. Wouldn’t the focus rs turbo fit?
I have one with 4K miles on it sitting I’d love to strap in. It achieved 389awhp with proper fueling. That is where is suspect the ranger or Corsair will end up with that housing.
Was hoping Livernois has the e85 figured out by the time it comes in cause my stuff is always an RD car and they have to have it for long periods.

That will a steep order. I’m not sure I’ll go that far as I have so many other projects to build. Keep telling myself I bought it for economic reasons but I can’t help myself.

Im fortunate to have been working with Liveronis from the start. I’ve sold quite a few of their tuners and my truck is tuned by them. It’s too bad we’re so far because my truck really needs to be live tuned for max results.

A mutual customer bought the 57mm and 304 DP from me and had Liveronis install it. They were working on injector swap right before SEMA so it was delayed. Anxiously waiting to hear about the injector solution and the power it puts down.

Ranger turbo needs a different downpipe to fit. I have one in my truck that has been pulled off for the jig to build a few. If you need anything let me know. Thanks.

lol you were the man I was gonna call. I saw you were working with them and was talking about your parts with Dan.

I’m only 2.5 hours from them and work that way a lot. I’m heading down tomorrow to get my 23 they just did e85 on. They are the best tuner I have found. My last truck had over 364k tuned miles with heavy shot of meth the whole time.
Never an issue. My wife 2.0 edge has had the e30 tune for 180k miles of flawless performance.
I’ve been pushing them hard for a full e85 setup since I’m sure they can use the same injectors as my rs once power is raised. This market is gonna be very large.
I wish my maverick was here so they could use it to figure it out.

What are your thoughts on the rs turbo fitting? It’s a decent size turbo and made great power. Should be able to put down much more than a ranger turbo.

The RS turbo won’t bolt up and we have electronic wastegates. I’m not positive but I think the RS turbo is a 45/62 compressor but I could be wrong. That’s roughly the same size as the STOCK ranger /Corsair.

The CTR is 57/75 so once Dan gets us proper fueling this turbo should make north of 500 to the tire. If that’s not enough an inconel exhaust wheel upgrade has already been looked into. The problem is that it’s $6000 to tool and develop ONE. The price for a batch will depend on the quantity. The Good thing is that it’s an option down the road.

Once the fuel system is resolved, the turbo won’t be the problem. We will be writing an Obituary for the transmission. Once the fuel and trans is addressed I believe we will have 500 hp Mavericks terrorizing the streets.

I’m not sure we can get that far. The nx2 turbo for the rs is a 60-64. Even with enough fuel which I have and many other do the end up in around 500whp. I am sitting around 528. Thats about as far as you can get with that turbo and full long block with head work. Most sit just under 500. I’d love to see some over 500 but it will be a tall order.
If the hpfp from any other 2.0-2.3 from Livernois fits we are in business for fueling. The injectors from my rs will fit and feed that just fine.
Looks like your option for the turbo will be closer to what is needed as the nx2 gives up a bit of magic down low.
Here is a neat write up of my car while they were mid development and testing the nx2.

I believe the stock rs turbo is a 50-63.
The mustang was a 50-60 if memory serves me well.

Maybe a dumb question, but what are your billet impellers machined out of? The stock is cast, so I wouldn't expect the same material necessarily, but I really don't know.

thanks for sharing that. do you feel that it was a worthwhile upgrade? I would be pretty concerned about the loss of low-end torque, especially for a Maverick that still gets used to tow/haul, but honestly even on your Focus RS I don't like that huge gap 2k to 3.5k. I marked it up with a black arrow. It looks like 200lbft loss at 2k rpm and 150ish at 3k rpm.
