Totally speculative at this point, but could the OTX name be for the Ford Maverick??

OTX TRADEMARKED BY FORD: POSSIBLE TRIM LEVEL FOR MAVERICK?
OTX Has No Prior History, But It Sounds Rugged
Ford Motor Company has gone to apply for the âOTXâ trademark with intent for use on âvehicles, namely, automobiles, pick-up trucks, electric vehicles, sport utility vehicles, off-road vehicles, and their structural parts.â The trademark filing took place on May 14, 2021. While it doesnât sound like a nameplate for a future product, it could be a trim level, possibly on the 2022 Ford Maverick small pickup truck.
Ford Maverick OTX?
While the âOTXâ name is a mystery, itâs a possibility that the trim level could be adorned to the Ford Maverick. Itâs expected that the upcoming small pickup truck will have some semblance of off-road capabilities, and could be used for the truck in lieu of the new âTimberlineâ trim level that recently debuted on the 2021 Ford Explorer. The Timberline sub-brand indicates a touch of ruggedness to Fordâs otherwise more pedestrian vehicles outside of the Ford Bronco, Ranger, and F-150 families. The FX4 trim level could also make its way to the upcoming Ford Maverick, as itâs found on both the F-Series and Ranger line of trucks also.
Other OTX Possibilities
This is a developing story, and so far details remain scarce on the OTX name at the time of this writing. So if itâs not set to be part of the Ford Maverick family, or even as a concept vehicle, it could perhaps emerge as part of another vehicle family, such as on the Mustang Mach-E, or maybe even on the new Ford F-150 Lightning.
Whatâs your best guest, fair readers? Do you think Ford Motor Company will introduce the OTX name as yet another off-road trim level? Or will it perhaps represent something completely different? Give us your best guesses in the comments below, while we work to uncover exactly what this new trademark could mean.
