If you are right about this, then Ford has gone backwards. I haven't seen painted wheels as OEM for at least a decade. Mostly because it is more environmentally-friendly than paint, but also because it is very durable. I know the BAP wheels that came on my truck appear to be powdercoated.they are not powdercoated at the factory. it is a simple paint.
powdercoat is much thicker, adds a little weight, and adds time because of the oven.
