I used X plan to purchase a Maverick a few days ago. This X plan was generated from a membership with a " club / organization " not a individual. It saved me around $400 off the MSRP of the truck and limited the dealer to only charging me $100 in DOC fees rather than their usual $800 fee.

I intended to resell the truck to someone else, and asked the dealer to not even bother tagging and registering the truck for me, to instead just title it. ( I paid cash for the truck btw, no loans or liens involved ). They insisted I would have to register the truck in order to use the X plan.

Yesterday the dealer contacted me, asking for a copy of my membership card to this club, so they could finalize the X plan paperwork. While on the phone with the dealer I asked how long do I have to keep the truck registered in my name before I could sell it to someone else and he told me 6 months. I asked what happens if I sell it sooner than that ( I didn't tell him I already sold it... ) and he said I would likely get a bill from Ford.

I looked at the fine print that came with my X plan Pin email and no where on it did I see any limitations on how long I had to keep the truck registered in my name.

I am just seeking any clarification on how this works.
Plan requirements state you must keep your plan purchase for 6 months & it must be registered in name of individual using the x plan to purchase the vehicle!! If I did what you did I would lose my ability to use the program in the future! (FordRetiree)

How would Ford even know? they don't have people who go out and track every Xplan sale in every state and a state is npot obligated to report the sale back to the manufacturer and they don't. I usually buy a new truck every year and I still get notifications from Ford about trucks i haven't owned in years. I have also sold acouple well within the six months of buying them and haven't been restricted from using the Xplan yet.
There are many databases of vehicle registration data. Relatively easy to check to see if a vehicle has a new owner if they chose to do so. https://alescodata.com/data/automotive/
Whether they choose to do anything with the data is another matter.
