WiFi keeps turning back on after dealer service.

As the title says, I have been keeping the in truck wifi turned off since I got the Maverick. I don't use it for anything and it is also a possible theft vector from what I have read.

Recently took the truck in for a dealer service (oil change/tire rotation) a couple weeks ago, and ever since the wifi keeps turning itself back on after I turn it off. The dealer didn't say anything about updates and there was nothing on the receipt about it. (Truck was up to date already)

Just some unusual behavior.

Did the dealer do any recall software updates? Some updates reset the head unit. It could also happen if they pull the battery.

2 parts to wifi on the truck, just wanting to confirm which one since the option is in different places.

Truck wifi - you must have an account with AT&T for the backhaul to that truck for the wifi hotspot to actually work.

Truck connecting to wifi - which only allows for updates (and only to the infotainment system at that, which has none for over a year).


I don't think the former will provide a connection to your devices to the hotspot, if the backhaul account isn't setup.
Maybe it does, in which case like many systems - just because your device connects to that wifi hotspot - doesn't mean it's getting internet access.
Apple devices don't say connected because they test the internet by trying to phone home, Android can connect despite nothing to the internet, so then your browser or an app complains.

The latter is just a waste of power for truck connecting and asking if any updates - there won't be any.


So - which one are you talking about, and are you checking the correct option?

Considering I've had multiple times setting the clock time correctly, and then it resorts back to something goofy - wouldn't shock me a setting isn't sticking.
