Just got my Maverick yesterday. I am trying to setup the WiFi so it can download updates while sitting in my driveway, but it won’t recognize any WiFi networks. This is strange because yesterday it found a bunch of them when I was parked at a gas station. (Was trying to attach it to my phone hotspot, but didn’t work.)

The manual, on page 382, says to go to Settings>FordPassConnect>ConnectivitySettings to enable the modem. When I go to that screen, it says “Fleet Telematics” and does not give me the ability to toggle a modem on or off.

Anyone have this issue and know how to resolve it?

What year is your Maverick? I believe they quit installing the Wi-Fi hotspot module mid year 2022

This isn't about the hotspot, it's about connecting your truck to Wifi to get system updates -- which every Maverick can do.

that screen looks different than any I've seen. is this a work truck?

if it is a work truck my first guess is that your company purchases a telematics package from Ford that is changing and likely restricting that menu.

You’re correct, it’s designed so the fleet manager can make changes and track the vehicle remotely. However, it’s a personal vehicle, so I don’t know why it is set up this way.

I am not sure what you mean by that.

I am employed by a company that has work trucks. A few are in a pool, but many are assigned directly to one individual who has that truck daily until the truck gets retired, the person changes roles, or leaves the company. If that's what you mean by personal, then it's certainly still a work truck even if no one else from your company uses it.

Whose name is on the title? If it's you, indeed, that screen shouldn't be there unless it's a condition of you getting a vehicle at a significant discount through your corporate fleet program.

You may want to have your dealer look into this.

Ford Maverick WiFi Issue {filename}
SSM 51838 2017-2023 Various Vehicles - Telematics Control Unit (TCU) – FordPass/Lincoln Way Feature Unavailable Message
In various 2017-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, customers may receive a message in the FordPass or LincolnWay App stating Feature Unavailable. Since this is a fleet vehicle, it cannot access the (SYNC Connect) FordPass or LincolnWay app through the TCU Embedded Modem. If this message appears, the vehicle may be equipped with a fleet telematics module. Replacement of the TCU or TCU related repairs will not prevent this message from appearing. Refer the customer to in app FordPass Guides or LincolnWay Concierge Teams to aid with fleet telematics removal. Open app, select Account > Help > CHAT or CALL option.

that's a super helpful find. I read it as some trucks may have the fleet telematics enabled in error.

Thanks, where is this from? I assume it’s some sort of dealer manual?

@Ford Motor Company, please advise on this. I’ve already contacted the dealer and they don’t know how to help.

I had a friend who works at a dealership to provide all relevant service bulletins and messages according to my VIN. This may not apply outside of particular VINs.

So, I Googled FordPass Guides and came up with this website. I called the number on this page and she told me that the Fleet part generally drops off after a few days once you have registered the car in the FordPass app. Sure enough, went outside and checked and it had gone away. Hopefully it’s that easy for anyone else who has the same issue.
