I have had my new 2024 XLT in Terrain color for a week now. When I asked the salesperson what the slot below the driving mode buttons were she didn't know.
does anyone know? FYI I also bought the organizer insert on Amazon for the console storage bin and would recommend it.

It's for swiping your credit card when you buy things on Ford accessories.com and your phone is connected to the vehicle

The slot is only on the hybrid. My 2022 EB didn't have it. Also, there is a clip on the driver's sun visor on both my 22 EB and 24 hybrid for similar items so the slot on the console seems redundant. Memo to FoMoCo: Instead of deleting useful items like the keypad or digital temp readout on the HVAC controls, delete the slot and give me the keypad etc. back.

It's actually not a slot to hold the notifications, it's a notification shreader. It spits the shreads out the bottom by the exhaust where they can catch fire.

Montana....Simple answer. The slot is for Debit/Credit cards while you are in the drive through. When you pull it out of your wallet, you don't want to drop it between the seats while you are waiting for them to come to the window. That way it is there holding it so you don't fumble it down between the seat and console. If I'm wrong....give me a better use for that slot....LOL.
