Wonder what he would have answered if you had asked if a cute redhead came with it.

Previous car salesperson chiming in.....you should know more than your salesperson about the car your buying. Ford has 20 plus models each with 3-4 trim levels. To memorize all the options and trim is unrealistic, by the time you do the next model year has changes. Loved it when a customer had all the info about the car, all I had to do was negotiate price.
Really, a pro salesperson knows his product and would never rely on the customer to know more than they do. That’s a dangerous position to be in as a salesperson

Pro salesperson? Have you ever seen the turnover at a car dealership? I had two years in and was considered the old timer. Salespeople that are on a commission/draw program leave just so they dont have to pay back the draw they owe. They go from one dealer to the next. We don't know if the salesperson in this thread was a seasoned veteran or a first week newb. And yes, there are members on this forum that would run circles around most salespeople when talking about a Maverick. Look at post #2, 9, and 10. They knew exactly which XL model came with power mirrors.

Sadly they seem to be doing pretty well with it.
Some stores replace workers with kiosks and self checkout, I wonder how much longer until Dealerships do the same. Especially considering their turnover rates.

No, that doesn't mean we can order from home either... it just means we have to go to the dealership, use the kiosk, take a number from it and wait in line to talk to a human. Then the rest is automated from there on.

Like, I got an email from a previous dealership the other day that seemed real personal, but at the bottom there was an "unsubscribe" button and that's when I realized it was totally automated just using a real person that works there as a reference to elicit a response. That person is not sending out emails to catch up with anyone or inquire about a potential sale - it's being done for them. They couldn't care less if someone goes to them or not.

I've also had one miss an appointment with me because he and 3 others were out getting coffee and goofing off. At least previously it was a push for a commision based motivation (which IMHO is a shitty way to base ones wages on especially at that level) but now they get paid hourly no matter what. Next we'll be prompted to tip them...

When I went into the dealership to buy my Maverick I was greeted by the sales manager. This is not a good situation since the salespeople didn't greet me first. He asked what can I help you with? The salespeople saw me talking with him and they all sprang from their desks to be the one to help me. I replied I would like to buy a Maverick, they all scattered like roaches when you turn on a light. Sales manager grimaced and called over to the guy that would become my salesperson. They knew they didn't have any to show me and if I was going to buy one it was going to be an order, not an instock unit. Most of them don't want to waste the time to put in an order that can take months to fulfill. They want a deal today, or tomorrow. My salesperson actually turned out to be a really nice guy and I'm glad everyone else scattered. I told him up front that I wasn't going to waste his time, I am using Xplan and if you will honor that I will leave you a deposit. We worked it out and here I wait. The whole car shopping experience is hit or miss. You can find dealers that care, and dealers that don't. You will find salespeople that care and some that dont. I worked for a dealership that didn't care, and one that did. To find a car salesperson that is a professional is as hard as finding an XL Hybrid Maverick that is unsold.

I think I missed important content of the story. Did you order this vehicle or was is sitting on the lot? In either case, before I sign my name on a 2,3,4,5,6 year commitment of making payments on something I actually look it over, and make sure its what I expected, and it has ALL the features I want before I drive it off the lot. Salesman or not, unless you did Carvana and never saw it in person before that truck dropped it off...you cant blame the salesperson can you? Even if the salesperson said hey, we got a XL someone backed out of...do you want it? You still made it all the way home without adjusting the mirrors so you can drive safely home? I'm not defending the sales guy because I was one, but you have to do your part before you get it home. We would make every customer drive the vehicle that they were buying before they signed on the dotted line for reasons similar to this.

IDK, I'm probably just missing something, but congrats on your Maverick.
When I ordered my XLT hybrid Mav in October 2021 there were none on dealer lots that I could test drive, couldn't even sit it in one! After waiting 16 months mine finally arrived at my dealer. I didn't even sit in it until I had signed all the paper work! I remember thinking to myself this is a crazy way to buy a $27,500 vehicle! In the back of my mind I knew if I didn't like it I would be able to flip it for a couple of thousand more than I paid for it even with sales tax and tag fee, etc...to Carmax or Carvana, prices were stupid at that time. Thankfully I loved everything about the Mav, couldn't be happier but I don't plan on ever going through this process again, lol!!!!
