Thats right. I placed an order for my Maverick in January and heard nothing from Ford or the dealer when I went in to reorder for 2023 in September. My salesguy was out so I basically told the used car manager to just have the new car manager reorder the same as my 22 was. He did and sent me a new build sheet. Meanwhile, I considered going back to my original plan from 2021 to get a Hybrid CUV. I found a Kia Sportage Hybrid on a lot, test drove it and loved the way it drove. Since I still had 0 info from Ford when I might get a Maverick, coupled with the fact my Jetta was dying, I put in an order for a Sportage. Told myself whichever came in first I'd buy. Well in early October Kia called and said they had a unit that a customer walked away from. I took it.
So, imagine my surprise when I get an email from Ford on Friday 11/18 stating my 22 Maverick has been built and will be arriving at the dealership in mid-December.
Now I'm not totally convinced that I'm not going to buy the Maverick and either trade/sell the Sportage HEV.
I need to check it out and drive it, etc...
However, I spoke with my dealer and asked if I could provide a buyer, if they would sell it them or if they had a waiting list they needed to honor. They told me first come, first serve and that they would sell for MSRP om the 22 Maverick.
So. If anyone is interested in getting a Maverick in mid-December please contact me.
If I decide not to buy it, you will get first chance.
Details:
2022 XLT AWD 2.0Ecoboost
Alto Blue Metallic
FX4 Off Road package
4K Tow Package
XLT Luxury Package
CoPilot 360
Power Moon Roof
MSRP - $33,570
I would like to ask for a referral fee of $3000 to help me offset the price difference I paid for the Sportage SX over the Maverick. Its less than a dealer markup would be and probably less than a used one would be at this point.
I live near Harrisburg, PA.

Unusual bait and switch scenario-but these are not usual times.

Agree, if the dealer won’t screw you I will! I like how it starts, who wa t to buy my Mav for MSRP. FYI, you’re not selling it for MSRP!

Agreed … if the dealer will sell at msrp it’s pretty lame to try and charge a “referral” fee. I’m sure the dealer would be totally down with you doing that. Sounds super shady. I’d say buy the truck and resell it like anyone else would, or walk away. Here I thought … this dude is trying to do someone a solid. Guess I’m naive.
