IMO the console vault seems like a pretty poor storage option for a firearm or anything at all, really.

Certainly a percentage of thieves who have already decided to break into your vehicle will pass it by as too much trouble. Another segment will also realize they may have come across something valuable and worth further attention.

I've not seen a console vault in person but based on the videos it seems like a sturdy screwdriver or a small pry bar might cause trouble for it. The screws are mounted to plastic, after all.

I'd be even more concerned that a crook would try and rip my entire center console out, vault and all. I can only imagine the final bill on the damage that might cause (even if unsuccessful).

In my head I have a vision of some punk kid mule kicking the center console over and over. Or maybe one of the catalytic converter thieves just cuts it out with a cordless power tool. ☹

I'd feel just as secure with this at 1/10th the price. (which is to say - not very secure at all)

It''s good to see you searched my username and came here...

The issue with a safe in a Maverick center console is purely available space. A Console Vault is the only commercially available console-mounted option right now and is a 'better than nothing' deterrent, nothing more, nothing less.

Defeating the (4) mounting bolts won't allow it to be removed as the CV is inserted into the console in pieces, and assembled within the console with additional hardware, those assembly points are additionally shielded. Once assembled in the console with its other supplied hardware it's too large to be removed (without cutting the console apart). Given enough time, tools, and a reciprocating saw, any console could be cut apart. The Console Vault is a commercially available solution that may deter most 'smash and grab' thieves.

A much better solution is an E&G safe which I have to 2 other vehicles. It's an order of magnitude more robust than the Console Vault.

The $20 box from Harbor Freight can be defeated in 10 seconds, and is a cheap $20 Chinese knockoff of the Hornady Tripoint Lock Box II I have.

Any deterrent is better than no deterrent. All can be defeated...

You're a delusional narcissist. I didn't even notice you authored this thread and certainly didn't search you out. You're totally insignificant and you'll once again disappear from my memory faster than a fart in the wind.

Your M.O. seems to be making totally unfounded assumptions and then ending up at wildly incorrect conclusions. All those "years in the field" and you're definitely no Sherlock. More like a Barney Fife. Get a clue.

Safe? It's a storage locker at best and that is probably giving it too much credit.

Might deter some thieves, sure... but the thieves who aren't deterred or are at least willing to give it 'the old college try' - you'll wish they had simply stolen your gun after you see how trashed your car is.

Give me 90 seconds to break into that console vault. I'll either have it open or I'll create a repair bill that'll cost more than any Glock (or maybe both).

PS the Kel-Tec is my go to when I'm on the go but I got no shortage of 'fire power'. Just a handful of the many guns I own. Obviously a fan of Walthers... but you should see my SIG collection.

It appears I’m now living rent free in your head... ;)

It’s unfortunate for the members here you you continue to drive threads off track with no meaningful input.

Very meaningful and on track. Shut it and stop your trolling. I'm only vaguely aware of your existence because you keep quoting me. It won't happen again. Muted.

Are you going to break in to the Console Vault with one of your hair pins?

Another one of your posts that both add no value and are disruptive to this Forum.

Console Vault now has a much larger under rear seat option for the Maverick. I am not sure when they started offering it, but I'm certain it was after I ordered my Maverick in August '21 and I finally got it last weekend.

At any rate - does anyone have the large rear seat unit? Or has anyone seen it installed? I can read the published dimensions, but always appreciate hands-on experience.
