I got a slick new ARE cap for my 2025 Lariat Maverick. No matter how I adjust its fit or spacing/snugness, I get a constant whistle from between my cab and the cap when driving over 40 mph. When I pop the sunroof open, though, the wind deflector changes the air flow enough so that the whistling disappears. So I know one solution would be to install some kind of deflector on the roof but I wonder if anyone who has had the same issue has come up with a different approach.

I had my cap on my 22 and now on my 25 and I never had an issue with noise. Do you have pictures of your truck and how the cap is mounted?

Hey, thanks for replying to this. Here are some pics. I inserted them all as "Full image" so I hope it's not too annoying.

Are you sure it isn't the rack bars??
It could be the runners that they're in. If they're easy to remove try taking them off and driving and see if it whistles.
Just throwing it out there.

Great idea. I'll see what I can do.
When I open the cab rear window the whistle sure sounds like it originates from between the cab and cap but I ain't no expert! Maybe I need to sit in the back seat while someone else drives and listen closely out the rear window, or stick my hand up in the gap to see if that quells the whistle...

Try pulling the cross bars and see if it goes away. I had some bare crossbars and couldn't wait to put on the air deflector. It helped a lot.

It may not whistle because your hand will disrupt the airflow over the crossbars.
Try removing the crossbars first.

Very nice cap.

It’s definitely the cross bars making the noise. Report back when you try driving without them. I’m actually looking into a fairing for my roof rack.
