Hi, I just got my Maverick XLT and I want to install wheel locks. Do you think these Gorilla 71641N are appropriate? When I compare them with the original ones, you can see that the base is smaller. In these photos you can see how they look when installed and compared to the original.

HRG,

When I was looking at wheel locks for my '24 XLT FX4 I looked at a couple of different locks and decided on Gorilla 96641DX, 14 mm x 1.50 factory style locks.

I thought the cone bases on these were close those of the factory lug nuts. In my mind, the smaller cones on the locks you are looking at may not be as strong as what I used. The 145 ft./lb. wheel lug nut torque recommended by Ford could overstress the smaller cones. The diameter on the 96641DX nuts is also closer to the factory nuts which makes them blend well when on the wheels.

See my post link below for photos and more info. on my experience.

Good luck.

@MAVCORuss , I'm not the OP. In my experience with Maverick wheels and aftermarket lugnuts, a lot of the taper on the OEM lugnut is not making any contact with the wheel, hence my suggestion to mark them and see the actual length/area of contact.

I just tried the Sharpie test — this is the result. The OEM lug nuts have more contact area, but not by much. I think the Gorilla ones should work fine. What do you guys think?

I ordered 96641DX my first time and they are longer than the OE lug nuts by quite a bit. On my second order I ordered 96643DX (20 pack instead of 4) and they are much closer to the OE length
