What protection (tint, undercoat, PPF) is worth getting?

23 Hybrid Lariat's about to be built this upcoming week so I'm already prepping a few things I want to get done when it arrives. What are people's opinions on Tint, PPF, and undercoating? Tint is a must in DTX but i'm hoping that I can delay it by the weather cooling by delivery. Strongly considering PPF given that thread on the thin paint from the Mav owner who was a detailer. Also wasn't thinking undercoat but again another thread from an owner has scared me into considering it haha.

What's the absolute must do as soon as I receive it? Trying to prioritize the extra spend here.

Instead of PPF I picked up the textured Aeroskin hood protector. Should help with both paint and windshield protection on lighter debris. I would say that and all-weather floor mats, either the Weathertech, Husky, or Amazon special Smartliner if you don't mind designed but not made in USA.

On the black appearance package at least factory tint isn't bad, may still want to add a brow for the windshield. Undercoat probably not worth it in southern states and there's a lot of felt / plastic shielding underneath (probably for aero in the hybrid) that could minimize exposure to road salt.

I don't plan to be taking the Mav into ice (unless my snowboarding plans change :) ) the undercoating was more out of concern for rusting, after reading a thread on here.

Being real, tint is the only thing I really want but I'd hate for the paint to look like dog on my first new car.

I got the hood deflector and got the front bumper and headlights done with Suntek PPF. Total cost was $450. I figured that would cover 75% of would be rock chips.

I would consider protecting your paint with Ceramic or Graphene. It's a well known fact that the paint on these Mavericks is very thin and easily chipped. There are several threads on here that cover that topic. Tint and Mud flaps are good places to start. Good luck and Happy Mavericking!

PPF is a must. Getting mine done today. I just got rid of a 23 I had for 7 months and already had a bunch of small paint chips on the front end. Ceramic isn't worth it unless you don't wash your truck 2-3 times a month. I think the Ceramic on the last truck made the paint harder and more brittle. Wash it 2-3 times a month and wipe it down with a Ceramic spray(I use Meguires in green bottle not blue bottle) that will protect your paint from sun and elements just fine.

Fact? I have read every thread on "thin paint". I have yet to find one that says anything BUT an opinion.
The FACT is that I measured my Maverick paint thickness. Typical measurements on the hood and fenders as well as other body panels ran between 4.3 Mil and 5.5 Mil. Lowest I could find was 3.3 Mil on the edge of the tailgate. I doubt there is a lot of difference in paint thickness over several Mavericks were they to be actually measured like I did mine.
That is NOT thin paint. Actually thicker than I would have expected.

PPF, protective paint film, can protect. It is also NOT immune to rock damage. When that happens, it is worse than a paint chip as it allows water and debris to penetrate the edges of the damage. Looks like crap, especially on lighter colors. They will tell you it peels off. Maybe when a few months old. But let it age a few years and you will find it is a LOT of trouble to remove.

Our last set of cars we had PPF on my wifes car and I thought 'I won't spend the extra $$ on mine, it'll be ok'. Granted mine has double the miles hers does but the difference in paint chips is noticable and amazing.

Her's is a honda and mine is a Nissan

I got the aero skin for my Maverick and some cheapo mud flaps off Amazon. My main concern was with keeping mud and gravel from slinging up onto the body.

My truck is being sprayed with Line-X as I type this. But I don't plan any other protection type additions for now.
