I think I may have mis-identified this feature. What I thought was stop and go was when you stopped at a light, the engine would turn off and restart when the gas was stepped on. I’d hate that as a feature even though it might save some on gas. What I’m reading here is Stop and Go paired with adaptive cruise control will actually brake the vehicle all the way to a stop if the vehicle slows or stops and then start going again when the leading vehicle moves forward again. I was wondering why it was paired with ACC but now that makes sense.

I think what I was picturing is what is called start/stop technology. My order is for the 2.0 Ecoboost, not the hybrid. I ordered a very loaded Lairiat AWD. Does anyone know if it comes with start/stop as I identified it? I’m hoping not. Can it be disabled if it does?

I believe all ecoboost vehicles come with stop/start, shutting the engine off at stoplights. It can be defeated, but will re-assert itself at the next engine startup. I do not know of a 'permanent' method to defeat it. Aftermarket products will enable setting it permanently off in (at least) the F-150.
The adaptive cruise will slow down from the set cruise speed if the distance between its vehicle and the one in front is less than a set distance. I think the distance is adjustable. It will come to a stop, but I do not know if it will resume speed if the obstacle vehicle starts moving.

Thanks Tom. My question is not for the hybrid but for the Ecoboost. I understand why this feature is put on the hybrid. I’m asking if the Ecoboost has start/stop as a standard feature or even as an option that I wouldn’t want.

I believe auto start/stop is standard on 2.0l EB orders, even though the 2.0l itself is considered an "option". Have not found it anywhere as a stand-alone option. On my '18 F150 my only concern is wearing out the "A" button, I don't use.

I love it and hate it.

It is tied to Adaptive Cruise Control.

It works great when a car is in front of you. If no car, then you have to hit the brake at the light or intersection. There is a timing issue when stopping. If you come to a complete stop and the car in front doesn't move for so many seconds, then all you have to do is tap either the Resume button or hit the gas pedal and it resumes at the last set speed. If you are the lead vehicle then you have to hit brake to stop and gas to resume where you left off.

I HATE it when you are coming up on someone turning right onto a street or driveway. The vehicle starts braking to the extent of over dramatic and is extremely uncomfortable. My wife will use Adaptive Cruise but she will hit the brake and slow down. She doesn't like the way the vehicle reacts and then is extremely slow to resume after the car in front is long gone. It is a pain in the ass I think.

But I LOVE Adaptive Cruise Control. ONLY reason why I'm getting the Luxury Pkg.

All I can say is, you'll see what I mean when you drive with it. It's a good system just don't like the vehicle in front turning part and how it responds.

You're thinking of two separate features. The Stop-start is as you describe, automatically starting and stopping the engine.

There's also Co-pilot 360 with intelligent adaptive cruise control with "Stop and Go", which is where cruise control will fully stop for you if traffic stops.

I believe the cruise control one is only available on higher trims.
