I suspect there are a lot of reasons, many already mentioned here. Plus I think there are tax incentives to purchase larger, heavier trucks like these, so that fuels demand even more.

I live in a small ranching/farming/AG/outdoor sports community, and they can't keep enough HD trucks on the lots and a year out ordering list. LOTS of dually trucks for the folks that transport more than a couple horses at a time or run full time ranches producing Hay and/or cattle ranchers. We have a large community that follows rodeos and stock car racing too that always go larger than F-150 size. Also, most of the large contractors with their own construction equipment to haul around. Personally, we have our F-150 and a 2 horse trailer the wife uses frequently and I have my small toybox trailer for solo motorcycle trips (2050 dry weight) that I *could* tow with my Grand Cherokee (5k max) and Maverick 4k, but it's much more comfortable towing with the F-150. If we someday trade our motorhome for a pull behind travel trailer in the 25' range, an F-250 upgrade would make sense for us too. Right now we're good with the F-150 and Maverick + trailers for all our needs.

See it all the time around me. Someone has a 12' aluminum boat and a 5hp Johnson that they put in the water once a year so they go buy an F350 so they can pull it. If they drive to the hills to go deer hunting once a year, they gotta buy a 3/4 ton diesel at least. Usually gotta install the biggest small pecker package they can get with the most ridiculous wheel combo.
Your reply reminds of all the people who think EV owners are soy boi's.

Kinds silly to make remarks like that don't you think??

It's not that silly when it's accurate.

Which one??

As an example years ago I bought a 4wd, F150 crew cab. Only 2 of us didn't tow much. But our grandchildren were with us a lot, ages, 7and 9 I wanted 5500 lbs around them. Not putting them in some little shit box to make any one else happy.
