My issue is it will not work with XM running in my truck audio selection. I hear Waze commands all other times. Thx
Sorry I couldn't help. It must be a settings issue somewhere. On my Mav (23 XLT, non sync) it doesn't matter what audio selection(XM, spotify, etc.) I'm listening to, I hear the Waze, or Google maps commands. Hope you figure it out.

Tony, I've a '24 Lariat, listen to Sirius XM via Sync 3 and use Waze via AA, and have no issues with having both work. My Sirius will drop in volume when the directions or even texts play, then raise again once they're done.

In a video I recently posted you can hear how it works when I'm sending texts.

Could it be an issue related to Car Play, since you have an I Phone?
So when using Waze in Android auto, you can press the voice button on your truck and tell it to turn to a different Sirius XM channel on the infotainment screen?

Mine does not do that. It only lets you communicate with your phone not the trucks radio when using Android Auto.

Gullzway, it doesn't do that, as you mentioned. It will control apps that are running on the phone via Android Auto. Waze, phone, text, etc.

I'm not sure what it would do if I used Sirius XM on the phone? I use the built in Sirius XM. I change the channels using the two buttons to the right of the voice command button on the steering wheel to change the channels.

It does control the Sync 3 radio in so much as it reduces the Sirius XM volume when an AA app is being used.

Ok, thanks for clarifying.

The original post is asking why they can't control SiriusXM on the trucks screen with voice while using Waze. Not possible on Android Auto, I assume the same for Carplay.

" When using Android Auto/Apple CarPlay on a Ford Sync 3 system, you cannot directly control SiriusXM through voice commands on the Sync 3 system as Android Auto/Carplay takes over voice control functionality "

Oh, ok. I interpreted it differently, possibly incorrectly?

I took it as the Waze guidance wasn't working for them while usings the Sync 3 Sirius XM.

When I did try Sirius XM via the phone and AA, I wasn't happy with the controls offered thru the screen. Difficulty changing XM channels was part of that displeasure. Perhaps Car Play is different?

IIRC, I was able to change the channels via AA voice command and the phone Sirius XM app, if I gave a command like "Play Sirius XM 70's on 7",but that required me to remember the exact channel name.

I use Waze and Sirius with no issues. What I discovered is that the volume of Waze can be controlled using the volume knob, but only when Waze is issuing directions.
So in effect, there are two controllable volumes. One for the radio (or other sources) and one for Waze alone. Pretty sure Google Maps does the same thing, but I rarely use Google Maps.

I just went and tested it. Waze voice guidance works regardless if using Sirius XM thru Sync 3 or thru the phone using AA. Also, Sirius XM channels can be changed either way thru the steering wheel, too, although one requires a person to remember channel names.

So, it must be an volume issue, like Joe mentions, or an issue with Car Play?

Yes Waze/Google Maps guidance works with voice, but NOT Sirius XM control.
Unless you use the phone app, not the built in Sirius XM.

O.P. " When I am using Waze Navigation on my cell phone my 2024 Lariat Hybrid does not allow audible guidance on XM Radio "

They mentioned they didn't want to use the app " I could but I paid for it to use on my truck. "
Different reasons for that I suppose. Poor cell signal in areas, limited data plan would be reasons.
I don't have the app myself, or a Sirius account, I just use the trial.

Not that this has anything to do with the original poster's issue, but I've been reading Android Auto is working on being able to control the native car radio thru the app, which may allow control of the built in Sirius XM? If so, that would be a change in the right direction. (y)

Is there anyway to get Waze Navigation Audio to work while XM Radio is being listened to?
I use waze bottom right corner a speaker icon to sound on off

That is really not what I was asking. I will be more clear. I am using the XM app that is installed on my Truck and I am using the Waze App on my Iphone. I do not hear the waze commands when I do that. When I use the Pandora App on my truck I can hear the Waze commands from my Iphone. It's weird. Thanks. Tony
