My I phone defaults to google maps when i use the map feature. The colors are very pale looking and very difficult to view especially in sunlight. Is there any setting that I have not found in google maps or in the screen settings to change the colors or views? I would be fine with just black and white screens when using maps.

What Jeff D. said. ☝

Try night/dark mode in:
  1. Google Maps
  2. Google Maps Navigation
  3. The Infotainment system

Also turn up the brightness using the buttons by the headlight switch and also in the Infotainment system Display settings. They can both affect the screen brightness.

On a recent trip to Florida, the airport shuttle service we hired picked us up in a Cadillac Escalade. The vehicle had a large, very clear navigation sceen that impressed me a lot. I was sitting in the back seat and could see the map clearly. I asked the driver what navigation he was using. He said Waze. The contrast between the streets, the route, and other data was very clear.

I tried adjusting Waze and Google Maps in my Maverick to be as viewable but was unable.

I'm not sure where the shortcoming is, though? I think it's more than just the amount of illumination. There must be other factors in play that make the difference.

Resolution maybe? Not sure. 🤔
