I own a 2024 Maverick XLT and am interested in having the dealer install a front camera which will help when parking the truck. Has anyone had the dealer install a front camera? Does the image of the front show up on your navigation screen? Are there any concerns for having the dealer install a front camera? Cost? TIA

OMG try to find a private shop to do this instead of subjecting yourself to dealer pricing, delays, and mistakes.

I'd be VERY surprised if there's wiring, or even an input on the head-unit for a front camera for 22-24 model year Mavericks. The 25 Lariat has the surround view available, which would give you that functionality, however even the Sync3 equipped Tremor in 23/24 don't have one as an option. (FYI Only the higher end trail packages on the Bronco even offer it).

You'll likely need to go aftermarket, and I'd absolutely not bother with a dealer, and they even may not want to install non-Ford electronics into the Maverick.

I've been thinking about putting a camera on the front for parking assistance and in the truck bed to help me remember when I leave things in there (I have a cover and bad memory). I found a couple of decent looking RV camera kits that come with a display and I'm not opposed to having another display somewhere, but I don't really want to run all those wires!

So now I've been looking at getting a WiFi camera so it would only need to be powered from the nearest 12v connection. The challenge here is it still needs to be very small (found a few), outdoor rated (found a few), and best case scenario once it's setup let me access it directly in a browser (or security camera app that doesn't require an internet connection) via it's IP address. It's the last part that's hard to find because most camera manufacturers want you to use their app (and subscription), but I don't want to have to keep them connected to the internet for them to work, let alone use a manufactures app that sends the signal to their servers then back to me (and often you can't continuously stream a live view because it's using up their resources / data). I have found a couple that might fit all those requirements, but I haven't gotten a clear answer on the direct access without using the app.

So now what I'm thinking about is using a Raspberry Pi that I have sitting on my shelf with some open source NVR software that I can connect the cameras to (via WiFi), and connect one of my old tablets to the NVR software on the app to get a live view. This is similar to how my home security system is set up and shouldn't require an always active internet connection to connect to the cameras, and even if it did I could block the cameras so that only the NVR app on the Pi was online, which I would still be able to connect to and have better control over it's security (at least in regards to what servers it sends data to).

All of that might sound complicated (I admit it's a very nerdy solution 🖖 ) but it would probably take the same or maybe even less time to set up than running a bunch of long wires through the truck panels to a monitor inside the truck.

I'm wondering if CarPlay or Android Auto can be used to display an aftermarket front camera on the dash screen? Seems likely.

I'm thinking much like with torque, probably not without the help of a side loaded mirroring app.

I just checked and there isn't a way to access the app I use for my home security system in Android Auto. Google is adding video streaming (like YouTube) and web browser support but they will only work when stationary...at least until someone figures out how to bypass that.
