I'm still a ways off from purchasing a Maverick that would be used primarily as a toad for my RV and possibly a replacement for the trailer I pull with my Bronco (truck bed). What has been the experience of folks who have had their 2.5L engines replaced under warranty, either purchasing used or the original owner? I've seen two used ones in the past couple of weeks at a decent price point and both showed the engine replacement on the CarFax.

My brother had a car that had an engine replacement under warranty (different make) and proceeded to put over 100k+ on it.

Engine replacement is not a reliability concern if completed properly.
Value of the vehicle is decreased. I would move on to a clean carfax used Maverick, plenty of them available.

So a few reasons for replacement.

1 of them being the old engine showed itself as part of the recall for bearing issue.
So in that case, compared to another non-replaced engine truck within the VIN range, it has now been removed from that potential recall.

That's an unknown removed from potential issues, that could be an unwelcome surprise and chunk of time.

Who did the replacement? If Ford you are good
What does Carfax show? If lemon stay away
What deal do you get? If you are not 10% bellow market price for similar car stay away
Again, if the engine work was not done by an authorized Ford dealer walk away and dont bother

The two I saw at different dealerships at different times were both Ford warranty replacements. I didn't research it more than that, but from one of the posts above it sounds like it was a bearing issue. CarFax actually states that it was a warranty replacement and might reference the recall but I don't remember.

I would rather have a replacement engine, than have one with an outstanding engine fire recall, but that's just me. 😁 Coming from someone with the engine fire recall.
