I have a USB with about 1,200 songs on it. I plug it in and select shuffle and everything works fine. In this case let's say I play 25 songs. I unplug it and then plug it in a few days later, hit shuffle, and then it plays those same 25 songs in the same exact order until I can get to other songs. If I leave it plugged in all the time it will do the same thing each day I start the truck. Anyone else having this issue or know a work around?

I have the same issue using Spotify using either an iPhone or Android phone where its a playlist with ~1200 songs, but sometimes it goes wonky and replays the same songs from my previous drive. I just re-select my playlist to play and that fixes it.

It’s probably coding related, such that RNG (and I’m number generator) is truly not random. So even though it’s using shuffle it’s following the same coding or logic every time. I see it a lot in other things, including other music apps

I have a thumb drive with over 4400 songs on it. I’ve been using it for 18 months and I have never experienced this issue. When I turn the truck off and start It up later, it picks up right where it left off.

Some flash drives/SD cards are much slower....I use only the faster flash drives...and defrag the files before copying them on to the flash drive. When first using a flash drive the accessories option (music) has to build an index of what songs are on the drive/SD card. I do find if you put too large a number of songs on a "slow" flash drive it takes time to build an index.

Agree with this. I had music on a thumb drive in both of my 2 previous vehicles and they both were not very random in music selection. I switched to Spotify around 3 years ago with my previous vehicle and have only used it with my Maverick.

Spotify also isn't very random and that code is clearly in their app, so it's different but similar result as the Ford infotainment playing from a USB stick.

It's pretty dang annoying and what I find is that mixing between playing in order and random kind of reshuffles it a bit. But playing a large playlist is just about sure to play some songs a whole bunch and some almost never.

I really appreciate the helpful replies. I will try this on a faster USB and see if that helps. Yesterday I started it up and as usual it “shuffled” from the beginning again playing the same songs in the same order. I switched from Shuffle to All Songs, played a part of one song and then back to Shuffle and that seemed to help. Not a fix, but at least a workaround. I’ll continue to mess with that and see how it goes.
