Truck icon on backup cam

Anyone know what the purpose is of tge truck icon in the backup cam. Read somewhere that the corners light up to see where cross traffic is coming from. But mine has arrows at the bottom of the screen for that. I find it's in the way and blocks part of the screen with no apparent use.

Backup sensors, not cross-traffic... Shows proximity to obstacles detected directly behind the vehicle.
