Does the standard XLT trim come with a back up camera or dash cam style camera, wanting to figure out what all to start planning on buying dash cam wise.

Back-up cams have been federally regulated since 2018. Any new car you buy will have it.

It doesn't act as a dash cam though. I don't think any trim of the Maverick has a built in dash cam of any form.

And car manufacturers are still trying to sell it as a luxury feature lol

I thought it was law now that back-up cameras were standard equipment now?

I am looking to buy a dash cam and hoping to avoid buying one for the rear, for recording idiot drivers front and back of me. Some vehicles allow you to use them for recording purposes...I believe Tesla and Subaru.

Would anyone know of any hacks that will allow for the rear cam to record at all times, not just while in reverse?

I just purchased one of these:

I'm going to install it in my Lexus and if I like it, I'll get another for the Maverick.

Back-up cameras are required by law and yes, there is a camera looking forward from the mirror but no you can't use it. It is used only for collision avoidance.

Is anyone aware of any Forscan coding method or otherwise on ANY ford vehicle to have the cam constantly "on" and recording to a USB plugged in? Like Tesla does.

You don't want to hack that - get a real dashcam. I have the thinkware u1000 and the quality is fantastic for both front and rear camera

I installed this in my kid's 2020 BMW 530, and will probably install this unit in my Maverick. Relatively easy installation (separate front and rear cameras.) Great video resolution. To know before:
You will need the optional battery elimination cord to keep from draining the Mav's 12v battery if you want to use it 24/7 (parking mode.)
No bluetooth means you can't easily view the video from your phone.
Also, it will not detect motion from the rear facing camera. It will, however, record the rear when the front detects motion or impact.
