As a Tremor owner and one who has put it to the test on sand and snow I say you will have an an advantage over the standard Maverick or FX4 because the Tremor will have a four wheel lock and locking diff. I didn't purchase mine for towing so The FX 4 has that advantage.

That's why I said currently, but why is it when your building a maverick (pre-25) the only way to get intelligent AWD is to choose the Tremor? Why can't you add it to a XL or FX4? Please explain.

I'm not sure what you mean. All all wheel drives come with intelligent all-wheel. The Tremor also has a locking diff and a 4 wheel lock button that the others don't have

I've always thought they called the Tremor drive train "ADVANCED Part Time AWD".

In the 2 cents worth department, I have been nothing but impressed with the Tremor driveline so far, and having owned two of the AMC Eagles in the past (a sedan and a wagon) that’s saying something. The Eagle could be towing a double snowmobile trailer and pushing snow with the front bumper, and no worries about getting stuck, ever.
But this Tremor is really something else! I even used the off-road cruise control up a long incline in extreme slippery snow conditions, throttle working itself and ABS farting away, and the thing just walked right up the hill slow and steady with no issues at all… also did some minor off roading in snow, again with no trouble at all. Do I think it would be a good pre-runner for the Baja? Nope! But I am happy with the capabilities it has, and that includes the on-road ride quality which is better than a lot of cars I have owned. As far as trading off a 4,000 tow capacity for this driveline and spring rate, it’s a no-brainer for me, and who wants to tow that much with a four-banger anyway? Maybe with a smaller boat on the flatlands, but a camping trailer in the hills? Talk about s l o w !
