Yesterday my sales manager informed me that my Lariat Lux 360A Tremor Cactus is previewing. I acted like I knew what he meant but didn't ask. I figured it's a good thing???

Your truck may be scheduled for production soon.

previewing is when your truck is in the list for being scheduled in the next group being scheduled. It is not for sure it will be scheduled but it is very likely.

How did you find this out? Did you call your dealership or did they contact you?

I was at my dealership getting service on my F150 and I stopped by the sales manager to say hi and he told me

I will say, don't freak out if it stops previewing tomorrow. Ford was never planning to schedule this week and even our favorite dealer representative, Tim, didn't know why Ford would be bothering to look at trucks this early if there was no plan to schedule. Until Ford starts sending out scheduling notices, it's all fluid.

Thank you but what exactly does it mean? Is there a thread with an actual definition? I have seen things like it means your truck will probably be built soon. I'm sure as much as people bash ford's processes that they actually have some kind of process flow or ghant chart. Such as they're looking at it but it's being pushed to another pile because I wanted remote start so it won't even be looked at again until that constraint is abated. Or any other constraints.

What @Rivers90 said, its being looked at to be scheduled, can change but you have a shot at being one of the first Tremor Orders. A very good and rare thing.

Previewing basically means Ford is considering the vehicle for scheduling. They are looking for vehicles that match what they can build with the parts they expect to have on hand for a given week in the most efficient manner possible. Previewing is a big step in the process because it means that at a high level, your truck matches what Ford is looking for. But it is not the biggest step because it is not a guarantee.

If your order has only a hitch and there is an order that matches your truck exactly but it also has the entire 4K package, Ford might chose the 4K order over yours if they have the rest of the 4K ready to go. Ford doesn't make money on parts that aren't on trucks and selecting the other truck gets the 4K parts out of the warehouse.

This is why Ford will grab 30 from a dealer to start the week but only end up with 10 actually scheduled. It's just a matter of perfectly slotting everything into the schedule.

My suggestion is to not worry about anything until you get an email from Ford saying it has been scheduled for production. At that point, Ford has committed to building your truck. There could still be delays, but in general, that is the biggest step forward.

Your dealer will know well before Ford sends you an email. Sounds like you have a good relationship with your sales manager and see other fords in your profile. IMHO this is the type of person that should get a very rare Tremor! Good luck!!!

PS. Had a Mercury Village, Ford Windstar, Ford wagon. Parents had a 64 Galaxy and cut my driving teeth on a 1971 LTD. Unclear if it was a Windsor or Cleveland motor. Was 16 and a new instate open 495. Started racing a friend in a dodge at 60 MPH. Stop looking at the speedometer at 112 as the cars where coming up awful quick. They said was going 118mph. Of course a bunce of friends where riding along. Did end up going airborne and walking out of cargo jets at 115-120 knotts.

I tried to drop the mud flaps off mine and found out it was being previewed too. They couldnt drop em because it was locked. Only other options on my HPR XLTremor is the rear window and the in cab inverter.

And I think that's a good point. Constraint does not mean impossible. It just means very few will be picked. So while the constraints this week are hybrid and mudflaps, there may still be some hybrids and vehicles with mudflaps chosen. Just not many of them.

Pretty much what Bob said, previewing = considering. I'd add that even paint color matters.

While it's possible to change color for every unit that goes through the line purging expensive paint from the tools, flushing with solvent and then re-priming costs money so they like to block paint. The more the better but my plant liked to do a dozen or so before changing colors. Any more than that the tools might pickup excess paint and shoot goobers on the job.

Once scheduled figure a day making the body and more than that for the paint shop. They then go into body storage sorted by body type and color. We would affix a build number sheet as they went into storage. They are then automatically pulled as needed for assembly.

Steve, I installed the tooling and supported production on your Villager hope you liked it. A mercury dealer once told me they were sad when we quit building them as they always sold well. They even snapped up any used one they found because it was a sure sale. The Villager was in actuality a Nissan Quest in Mercury clothing, we build both as a joint venture. When the Villager/Quest contract died we moved on to the Escape/ Mariner.

Might be scheduled, might not. It's just Ford dicking with you. Get used to it!
