I'm not finding the answer. What is the issue with backing up while a sway bar is connected? Same question regarding slippery weather.
You probably, like 99% chance don't need one. So simple. Don't use it.

If it's REALLY WINDY weather, pull over as you should anyway. I towed a 9 foot tall trailer with my mav, 6,000 miles. No sway in mild average various weather. passing semis, being passed by semis, or otherwise.

Plus, your truck has some electronic sway detection and sway correction built in.

I've backed up at slight to moderate angles with a sway bar on and not damaged it (visibly, anyway). But that's mainly because I had just started using it and was not in the habit of removing it. The best practice is to always remove it.

I think the biggest risk is backing at sharp angles, and I've assumed the reason was you could reach the limit of travel of the bar at either end. But I could see bending also being a problem, as others have said.
