Trailer light conn

Does anyone know a simple trick to hold the cover open on the trailer light connection so it doesn’t rest on the wires? I might be missing the obvious here. It seems it should stay open on its own to prevent damage. Thanks!

Use a 7 to 4 adapter in the other hole and call it good,,,,,,,

I've found the spring loaded cap helps keep the plug securely attached.
