I had same problem and was disappointed. HOWEVER, thru some experimentation found that if all 4 wires (and that is what I tested), were not plugged in, the lighted hitch worked fine. My final solution was to cut the turn signal wires on the lighted accessory, leaving the common (ground) and light/brake wire in tact - the brown/white wires as you can see in these pictures…
Did you loose your blind spot feature when you added this light? That is, if you have the cp360 feature. I was thinking of adding some led lights on the back, but someone suggested you would loose the blind spot feature.I had same problem and was disappointed. What I found was if you clip either the Green or Yellow (which are the Left/Right turn signals) from the accessory piece, the CP360, including Blind spot feature, still works fine. The Maverick does not think there is a trailer unless all 4 wires are connected to the 4-pin connector. I clipped both as you can see. Downside is the lighted accessory does not become brighter when stepping on brake.
