Has anyone asked how the sales teams family is doing ? How they are surviving with almost no income for the last 18 months?

How about the finance people. Not just at the dealership, but at the credit unions and banks. How's their paycheck looking?

Oh, and the guys who prep new cars? Don't really need them, do we?

Nobody is forced to pay the stupid mark up. Get off your high internet judgemental horses for just a moment to think about others impacted by all this S the last 2 years.
EVERYONE has been affected by the Covid crap that has been going on the last 2 years. But many are using it to take advantage while they can. Whether it’s right or wrong is determined by those doing it and ultimately the man upstairs. You bet, they can ask $200,000 for that and any vehicle they have on the lot. Is it right? Not my decision or problem. As someone said above, Planet Ford 635 is 5 minutes up the road and from my dealings and what I have heard, they have been fair and not marking them up. And being America, we have a choice. I posted the above ad they have to show the ridiculousness over this truck. Bottom line it is a $25,000 truck give or take. As I said several months ago the ā€œcompetition ā€œ is coming. And I will remember what Ford has done to so many of us. Pass the Vaseline please.

Absolute scumbags…

Everyone here should send a copy of this ad to Ford (Mark Levine or even Customer service) and ask if this is what Jim Farley was talking about.

We have to call out these kind of dealers if there is ever going to be change.

Sorry Karen. The best thing you can do is not do business with them.

Complaining to your facebook friends might make you feel great, but it really doesn't do much.

zero!

Cars are and have been selling themselves. Anyone not selling cars now is at the wrong lot or is in the wrong profession.
Go ask all the car salespeople who have been laid off because there are no cars to sell how easy it is to sell no inventory.

Who cares? I live in a major metropolitan area and most dealers regardless of make have barely any inventory on hand. Nobody complains when they have too many cars to sell and do so at a discount. Ford does not care, their job is to sell it to the dealer, once it's in the dealer's hands they can do what they want, that's why they're independent franchises. I really don't understand the mentality, I run a side business and although I provide services, if I sold goods and there was a shortage of supply, you bet your ass I'm going to raise prices if I have less to sell.

Some body gotta eat and mouth to feed. I'm not gonna be the one to feed them.
Right, the market dictates the price, not the dealer. If it doesn't sell at that price they'll lower it but can you blame them for asking? The sad reality is that people are paying 10k over MSRP for a stripped down XL Ecoboost.

I'm not blaming anyone for taking advantage of the situation. If it were me I would do the same. This is why it's my choice to order and wait and hopefully they won't jack up the price once my truck comes. If they do then I'll just walk away.

Well, that is the only scenario that Ford really seems to care about right now, they don't want dealerships raising the price of customer special orders. I feel that if it's dealer stock, let them do what they want. If it's a customer special order that was turned down or couldn't get financed, whatever, anything goes.

Not that I would, but I have not heard of any car salespeople being laid off. Seems highly unlikely.

You mentioned F&I guys in an earlier post. It's my understanding that a very effective F&I person can actually make more than the owner. Gotta love those commissions on financing, extended warranties, service plans, etc. I don't think they're really hurting.

New car sales make up only a small portion of the profit of a new car dealership. Used cars, parts and service are the real money makers.

I suspect that the dealerships are saving tons of money by reducing advertising costs. Ever heard of floor plan? That's the interest that dealers pay to banks for short term financing to pay for inventory sitting on the lot. Certainly that's a reduced cost as well.

Two years ago, very few people worked from home. That's changed. In the future, it will be more common to simply order your vehicle exactly the way you want it from your home computer or even your phone. The role of car salesmen will diminish. Things change over time. When was the last time you saw a dinosaur?

Direct ordering is clearly the way to go. Fordā€˜s problem is having a 19th century order & delivery system in a 21st century market place.

My friends dealership didn’t lay off any salesman
They have 50+
Now they just have to sell one or two cars a month vs 10-20 to make the same money
I’m sure it’s different in different areas
