I'd say that you're probably well over your 4000 pound towing limit, and pushing the 1500 payload as well. Keep it slow and local.

As for frontal area, yeah, probably over the 40 sq feet recommended, but that is not a hard limit imposed - it merely says that performance will be affected in a bad way when you're pushing that much wind.
Payload is not in addition to tow rating. I believe the GCWR is 8,145# if I remember correctly, he has a 4,000# AWD Truck, a 4,000# minimum trailer, plus 1,000# in passengers and 600# of cargo. Grand total about 9,600#, WAY over GCWR.

Holy overload and oversize. Considering an ATC all aluminum trailer is 3,750# (Yours appears to be steel framed and most likely over 4,000# empty), with 5 guys (Another 1000#?) and cargo you are over by at least 1500#-2000# overweight. Probably double the frontal area allowed too. And you took it on the highway? Wow some brass balls and a bit of a death wish there. You do realize the hitch is bolted to sheet metal right? Glad to hear it was completed without incident.

That's pretty sweet.

I had a MY2000 Honda Insight.
5 speed manual.
Yes, a manual transmission HYBRID.

It was advertised 70 MPG and I often got more than 80 MPG.
100 MPG was done for whole tanks by more than one owner.

I also had an aftermarket manual controller for the hybrid battery and electric motor. I had "paddle shifters" for regen on demand (kind of like the L button we have) and a paddle shifter for EV mode or electric boost on demand. Fun car. Never had a dime of trouble with it.

I like how he said in the video he "routinely got pulled over" by state troopers - just to have a look at it, but was never given a citation - HECK NO - because it was not breaking any law. The trailer had brakes.

I'd tow that guy's rig with my HYBRID Maverick and it would do it fine. No sweat.

Of course that guy never pulled that over the Rocky Mountains but that's not the point.

And yet it did just fine. Zero issues with anything. I do have a Livernois tune on it so it definitely does better in that department. But the truck does a fantastic job and gets great mpg while doing it.

I have overloaded the shit out of trucks when I was younger. I won't do it anymore.

Yep they were great cars, and performed fine enough with the stick. I had a silver, which I later switched out for citrus. My last trip before I sold it was 85mpg on a 4-5 hour round trip between Seattle WA and Portland OR. It averaged 55mpg in my commutes, which was 9 miles/1 hour each way. I only setup a grid charger though - no fancy paddles to force the electric motor.

Biggest problem was noise - that aluminum body absorbed nothing, and with those RE92 tires, even adding butyl mat, decoupling foam, and MLV on the floor and halfway up the sides did very little to drop the road noise down from 92dBA at driver ear position (on the rough Oregon highways). It lowered the frequency, but it was still stupidly loud in that cabin. You get used to it, then ever other vehicle seems extremely quiet. Not good noise levels for protecting your ears.

I have to be honest I am thinking of towing a 5500 mini skid steer rented from Homedepot with my 2000lbs towing capacity hybrid. 15 miles drive each way.
anyone else pushed the limit with the hybrid?

You can do it. The overall weight is not the issue. What's the tongue weight tho? Keep your speed 35 mph and under if you don't have trailer brakes hooked up. You'll need to stop TWO vehicles with ONE set of brakes.

With my properly set up trailer brakes, the Maverick does little or no additional braking. The trailer brakes itself and the truck brakes itself. But you need a proper set-up and experience doesn't hurt either.

I would not hesitate. Obviously take it slow but you will be fine
