Well last night I decided to stagger out to the shop and TRY to install the tonneau cover I bought on Amazon...

Seemed to be of good quality, poor directions written by someone who has a difficult time with the Engrish language.

But better than my Cantonese I must admit.

After two fricken hours of working to get the latches to secure the rear of the cover I finally determined that the side rails need to be trimmed...maybe 2".

So much for the Amazon comments that it takes 15 minutes to install.

Might be a film at 11... still working my way back home tonite.

Yep...but I figure I'm making a $100/hour installing this $129 tonneau compared to buying a $400 deal...

I guess Chinese inches are different than American inches...this thing just needs to be trimmed a bit.

Maybe I'll have a chance to fix that tonite... or on the weekend.

I got the TIPTOP Soft Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover from Amazon and it went on fairly easy w the help of my son crawling in the bed to secure the forward clamps.

We must have got different tonneau covers off Amazon. Roll up fits perfect, well made, no leaks and inexpensive. Incidentally, it actually took about 15 minutes to install.

I second this, I used our forum discount on a Gator hard tri-fold. It was more than an Amazon Special but very competitive on price after the discount. It goes on and off in ~30 seconds, I spend more time getting in and out of the bed than actually undoing it. The fit is great and it keeps most of the water out. I found that by putting this down in the bed I can set things on it and water that does make it in drains out under it.

I had a similar problem. Ended up cutting about 1/2 inch off the side rails. Happy with it now. Funny I put in a 4 star review at mostplus and mentioned having to cut the rails. The review stayed up for a day then was removed.

Al,
Just out of curiosity what style of bed cover do you have?
I have have a MostPlus hard tri-panel with Ford OEM rails and didn't have to cut anything.

Mine is an Autosaver88 bought on Amazon.

It's a nice soft rollup... just a little frustrating to install. Don't believe those "easy installation" YouTube videos.

I paid $139..

Actually mine wasn't too bad. I'd say half hour to 40 minutes. If you don't include the unboxing and reading the instructions.
A lot of that time was me getting a moving pad in the bed so I could scoot up underneath and screw the clamps down. At 69 I'm just not as scootable as I used to be.😄

Soft cover. Was quite frustrating trying to stretch it to get over the clamps. Got it to work only once. Cut 1/2 inch off and pretty much petfect.
