Still searching for a tonneau and trying to decide what style. I definitely want a hard cover to try and discourage thieves (we all know that if somebody wants to get into your truck, they'll do it whether you have a hard cover or not). I ran across this cover on eBay for a very cheap price (currently $255). It's a vinyl padded style cover, but it has hard plastic underneath so it can't be cut open. The only one I've seen similar to this is on RealTruck - the TonnoPro and it's $400 more. The TLAPS one looks decent, and I've seen a couple of reviews for their tonneaus that said they were good for the price. Just thought I'd pass it along if somebody is looking for a soft-cover style with a hard cover underneath. Don't know if anyone on the MTC has this type of cover, or any experience with the TLAPS company.

As someone pointed out to me that’s actually only a two-fold right.
A true trifold can flip against the back window.
I’d stay away from the soft vinyl which may be prone to fade and breaking down in the summer sun.
I got an “Oedro” two-fold cover (very strong combo of aluminum) a couple months ago for about $300, think it was on Amazon with free shipping.
When we take our bikes out it’s only a couple minutes to remove / reinstall the entire cover.
Good luck and enjoy!

Some people like the soft vinyl because it looks like a traditional tonneau cover (like the old snap-on ones from the 70s) but I thought this one was at least worth looking at because it does have a hard plastic underneath to keep from being cut into. I was looking at the TonnoPro on RealTruck and this TLAPS looks pretty much identical except for the price. Sometimes I think these are all made in one or two factories, and just sold under different names to see how much they can get for them! Like you said, the vinyl might be a problem with sun exposure, but for a couple of hundred bucks, it might be worth a try.

TLAPS also has a low-profile hard cover that looks an awful lot like the Rough Country tri-fold for about $200 less in price, and I was checking that one out too. I just wondered if anybody on the MTC had bought one of the TLAPS covers, and how they liked it.

I've been looking at the Oedro cover. It seems to be the best of the cheaper ones on Amazon.

I've seen a few posts here from people that bought expensive tonneaus, and they weren't great as far as fit and finish (especially the hard rollups) so it looks like you can go cheap(er) or expensive and it's all kind of a crapshoot 🙂
