Time between Reservation and converting to Order?

This process has me a little confused. I went through the Ford website and sent in my reservation. Got and email from that. I had already been dealing with a salesman Looking at Ranger before shifting to the Maverick. I sent him a screen shot of the build sheet — a rapid red first edition loaded. A bit later he asked for my driver’s license. I haven’t seen another email from Ford. Should I have?

I was worried that they haven’t asked for a deposit or seen anything official so I reached out yesterday to make sure I was in the queue for a build and he assured me I was.

First reservation went to closest Ford dealer near me, waited 48 hours and no contact. Second reservation went to another dealer 10 miles away and was contacted within one hour. Got it ordered and received email from Ford within two hours. First dealer finally contacted me after three weeks. TOO LATE!!!!

I placed a reservation on the Ford site at the end of last week, and was contacted by my dealer on Monday. In the email the rep stated that “a member of our team will reach you with details as soon as it is time to place your order.”

Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere, but is there usually a delay between placing a reservation and converting it to an order with a dealer? I’d be ready to finalize an order this week so am I just over-eager or is the dealership slow here?

I called up the dealer I was planning on working with prior to sending the reservation to give them the heads up and find out what I needed to do. I sent them copies of my DL and after a couple of emails back and forth sending signed order forms it was all done in little more than an hour including email confirmation from Ford that they had my order.

I responded to them today and said I’d be in tomorrow afternoon if they have someone I can meet with. Pretty quickly got a response and an appointment scheduled. We’ll see how the conversation goes and I’ll update over the weekend. Really appreciate everyone’s comments and perspectives.
