TIL: The 2025 Maverick Fuel and Temp Gauges have finite points

I’m sure everyone else already knew this, but I was surprised to see and realize today that the fuel and temp gauges are neither analog sliders nor digital screens, but just a series of discrete lights.

Somehow I didn’t realize this until I saw it. I’ve even read the manual twice.

This explains some of the oddities around the fuel remaining indicator. I’ve never had a vehicle without an analog fuel gauge before.

I remember seeing that a few days after I got mine in bright sunlight.

It struck me as kind of a hybrid between digital and analogue. Digi-logue?

Also interesting in that obviously the app knows the exact % of fuel remaining

I don't mind the Temp Gauge but hate the Fuel Gauge.One time You look it's at 7/8's of a tank You look again 5 minutes later it's down to 3/4's of a tank.

Yup.
2022-2024 have much nicer gauges.

The battery gauge in the Bolt EV has 20 tic marks. 5% increments for "fuel".

Sucks you guys have only 8 tic marks.
12.5% increments.

My Distance-to-Empty indicator below the gauge has about 600 'tic marks', so I'm not overly concerned about the coarse gauge steps. The fuel gauge is just there to give you at a glance information, the real information is the DTE.

I don’t get the big deal. I just look at the distance to empty. I try to never let it go below 1/4 tank
