With the winter coming up quickly, I was wondering if anyone has used the product called "corrosion free" to help protect their truck during the winter? I scheduled an appointment for 12/1 to get it done on my new Maverick. It is a little pricey for the premium package application, but I thought it's worth it if it prolongs the life of the truck. Anyone in Mav Land use that product before? Any input would be appreciated

links? What do they use? If it's lanolin based like fluid film or wool wax they seem to be well regarded. IIRC the other types can peel, trap water and actually cause rust.

From what I have found it is a clear waxy liquid that is applied. It was recommended to me by a co-worker who is super meticulous with his vehicles. He says it is what he uses and that his vehicles look great underneath. I don't want to use a ziebart tar/asphalt cut undercoating as I have heard those have potential to do more harm then good if not applied correctly. Below is a link to the site for the product. (I hope the link works)

No experience with that specific product, but I've had no issues with Fluid Film and NH Oil. I don't see why Corrosion Free would be any different. I suppose the only issue with Fluid Film is that the vehicle smells like hot trash for a week or so after application.

I'd shy away from rubberized undercoating because they trap water and cause more rust than they are supposed to prevent.

I had my 2023 XLT done with "Corrosion Free". I did a lot of research and found that it was the best option out there. There is a Test Data Sheet available on line where the Canadian Military did a test of many of the top options and it was by far the best performing. It is very similar to "Fluid Film" but does not have any smell to it after it has been applied. It is drip free. I purchased a separate spray can of it and applied a little extra in the bottom of my doors and my tailgate and under the front of my hood. Very satisfied so far. They provide the best warranty and only require that you get it done every 18 months, although I will still get it done annually. I have attached a pdf of the report.

Here are their IMPORTANT warranty terms (emphasis via boldface added by me):

"...The total liability of Corrosion FREE will be limited to the cost of repairs as covered by
the Warranty, and the total cost of repairs or replacement shall not exceed the then current
cash value of the vehicle
..."

In other words, if you have $10,000 worth of rust damage, but the Kelley Blue Book wholesale value is $500, they will write you a check for $500 and send you on your way.

"...The ’UnderBody’ Rust Cure™ application is limited to the underbody only. When
either Formula 3000 or Formula CSC850 is applied, the underbody frame, gas tanks, fuel
lines, hydraulic brake lines and emergency brake cables are included and protected by the
Warranty provided such parts are steel (**for Used Vehicles - see note below). However all
body panels and surface corrosion damage are excluded under the ’UnderBody’
Rust Cure™ section of the Warranty.

The ‘Essentials’ Rust Cure Treatment is warranty specific to the Door Bottom Seams*, Wheel Wells, Hood, Trunk Lid, or Tailgate Door and all of the items covered by the UnderBody Rust Cure section of this warranty.
It is understood that THE BEYOND THE FUTURE WARRANTY IS SPECIFICALLY TIED
TO PERIODIC MAINTENANCE..."

Inspection and re-application of rust-proofing every 18 months; miss one re-application and the warranty is void. Trust me, you might do 4 or 5 of these inspections and give up. Oops- no more warranty!

Folks, this is the same nonsense that Ziebart writes into their warranty. And I can tell you from personal experience (both as a consumer and someone that worked in the auto-dealer business for 25 years) that Ziebart, while a great product, is totally misapplied by their dealers and as a result is a complete rip-off. Based on their warranty, I'd have to say this "CorrosionFree" ain't much better.

Got mine rust proofed and undercoat for $500 with wool wax, seemed the better way to go

I see they sell the stuff. how much do they charge if applied by a dealer?

I myself went with Krowns which is an oil type product. Who knows if it will work BUT was about $170 applied. Has to be redone each year. I hope it helps

Phil,
Thanks for the reply, it definitely makes me feel better knowing that someone else has used the product and would recommend it. Thanks for all the detailed information.

They have different packages and cost obviously goes up based on what you choose. I am scheduled to get the "complete" package at $385. after tax. That is the most expensive, I figured do that one the first year to ensure everything gets coated.

One other question Phil: if you don't mind me asking, did you go with the "complete" package or one of the others?

Check out Waxoyl. It is what Land Rover specified for their vehicles.
It never really dries hard. The inside of doors, etc. get a different coating sprayed in.
I've had 3 vehicles done. One lives in Florida now after only one winter up North.
Two of them live in Vermont so are exposed to a nasty salt brine mixture every(many now) winter.
An inexpensive touchup once a year to repair any coating scuffed off(usually very little, if any) on gravel and dirt roads keeps them rust free for many years.

Thanks for the suggestion. This forum is great, everyone seems to genuinely want to offer good input and advice!
