Looking back I count from 16-22 super close times I almost did not make it past could have been several more. Only count day in nam as 1 that had bullet graze helmet, another put hole in shirt collar, and biggie third time for the day.
Thank you for your service to our country.

I’m 48 and just finally feeling like I’m getting a hang of this living thing. lol.

This is done! Definitely more time than money into this one, and a little skin.

No pics really. But to summarize…

Bought a cheap led 3rd brake light off eBay for a F150 2015-2020. Cut the connector off. Extended the connector long enough to reach the back, with extra to cut down. Connected it through the dome light. Did pull the one grab handle off in the back to get some slack on the headliner. It is a real pain to do this but as far as I can tell if you have small enough hands, it is the easiest way to do it. Run it to the drivers side back piller and down, a fish tape and some solid core house wire to pull the new harness back through helps. Once down to the back seat I used a drill bit to poke a hole in the large rubber grommet the harness already there goes through. Pull it out and drill the hole, the gas tank is not far from there. Make sure to use a wire shielding to protect your new harness, I used the spiral type. Ran all 3 wires back over and to the trucks left of the gas tank then followed the same harness that was also through that grommet. I have the ground ran to both my cap brake light, and the cap led inner roof light bar, white wire to the light bar, red wire to the brake light. By doing this the inner cap light comes on like the bed lights did on the 3rd brake light when you lock and unlock the truck, and because it has the bed light, that inner cap light comes on when I turn that on with the button as well. I did put inline fuses at the back of the cap just in case, with 3 amp fuses. Also put connectors there as well so if I want to take the cap off I can just unplug it. Done and done, and happy to be done. Will be happier when my forming scab is gone.
Hope this helps. Since I have access to wire and spiral wrap, heat shrink tubing, solder and what ever tools I need, this cost me $25 and some change. Had the connectors, bought a spare 3rd brake light for the connector, and two inline fuse holders, had the fuses. Much cheaper than the $275 I was quoted for a Snugtop install harness.

Hope this helps guide others to getting theirs working, as I saw lots of questions on this when researching it.

If you get the one made by curt that is for the 7 pin trailer it has a larger amperage fuse and provides the separate 12v accessory circuit.
I bought this myself. When wired in correctly will it charge my 12v trailer battery and provide brake control?

No control. You can also purchase a 7 pin brake control from Curt with an app for your phone. Which will let you move brake controller from vehicle to vehicle and match any trailer to it and settings once entered for each pair will be remembered.
Yes it will charge your battery using the bms controller in your trailer.
