It's a $40 add-on on Ford's website, but doesn't have a picture. Is it just a glorified hose clamp like the ones you can get on Amazon for $20 and put on in less than 5 minutes? Can any of y'all verify this?

The pretty much describes what I purchased from Ford Accessories but have yet to install. Florida summers are brutal so am waiting until fall to install that and the tailgate lift dampener.

You can install it yourself and it comes with a key similar to the locking wheel locks. Accessories@ford sells it for $29 ...... I spent the $40 as it would be a dealer installed item prior to delivery. No regrets ...... or you can go with the hose clamp.

Are you guys using these with the power locking tailgate? I've thought about getting one but with the lock on the fob I didnt think it was necessary.
All trims have a locking tailgate, manual key on XL.
Which is why I was confused on why this part would be necessary.
