Five years ago I decided it would be time soon to replace my small, 2 door '99 Toyota Tacoma truck.
Four years ago the Maverick caught my eye, and since '21 I had an on-again, off-again relationship with the idea of a purchase.
Late last year with the intro of the '25 Mav, along with obsessive web searches, reading every post on this forum, and questioning random Maverick owners on the street, I decided to push the button down and ordered
a bespoke '25 Space White XLT hybrid in November 2024.
While I followed the Ford production webpage, I refocused my obsession by reviewing and ordering a few aftermarket products for the truck.
Finally the vehicle was delivered to the dealer, and I'm doing a final inspection and test drive (and hopefully driving it home) in a couple of days.
My salesguy sent me a quick photo of the truck. After all the prep and anticipation, my reaction was surprisingly muted. I'd looked at 100s of photos of the truck. This photo looked like all the others. Then I realized — that one — right there, would be mine. Probably (being an old fart) the last vehicle I'll ever own. A new spouse, a new house, new baby, new vehicle... all are a moment in time.
