Taillights popping out solved by installing new taillight retainers

Just A update, installed new taillights retainers in the Maverick, this seems to have fixed the issue, nice tight fit snapped into place, probably poorly manufactured retainers is the issue. Hopefully the new Ones don' t have the same issue.

Something tells me there is more to story….. OP how were you ‘playing’ when the taillights began popping out?

Had the Mav at Krown for its 6 mouth rust prevention coating , they remove the tail lights, when i got it back the left side tail light wasn't fitting properly, had some new hold in clips on hand and now it's fine again, seems the clips are one time use hopefully Ford will design something better. Not really a big concern,just a inconvenience.

They weren't screwed in?

Yes, they are screwed on on the inside of the box, plastic retainer clips on the outside, this is where they don't fit flush when the clips won't hold.

Can anybody drop a link or part number for retainers/clips please? I broke one when reinstalling after tinting my taillights.

Yep , went to Ford today and purchased some backups. Upper retainer part # W717430-S300 lower retainer part #W718155-S300.

I've popped mine (MY23 XLT) out a few times and haven't had an issue.

I did though have an issue with one of the retainers on the bed lighting/taillight spinning in place.

I've actually never touched my tailights nor have I done any off road stuff and they both are popping out
