Tailgate Spoiler with a Tailgate Pad

I have the Ford spoiler and I wouldn’t do it.

In fact, that’s the only thing I wouldn’t consider doing with the tail gate spoiler attached. Anything else isn t effected. Even hauling plywood in the second gate position doesn’t touch the spoiler.

Those spoilers are painted black, not molded black plastic like the rest of the bed trim. Even with a tail mat I suspect the paint would mar over time. And yes, the 3M tape, as good as it is, might work loose.

Why not just get a 2 x 8, or what ever, screw some fork quick release mounts on it, and ride them in the bed?

How cool do you want your truck to look?

BTW, with a Ford trifold tonneau cover the tailgate spoiler increased my mpg, especially on the highway.

Truck looks good. Side question, was the black oval frame for the logo easy to put on and does it distract the backup cam a bit?

Easy to apply, has tape.
Had to Dremel off some plastic around the camera lens to get the full view back.

Dont forget that you have a PICKUP now. That’s what the bed is for. People threw their bikes in the back of those for decades and thought nothing of it!

Those spoilers are probably grey or white plastic. They prime and paint them. You can order a color matched one. I didn’t because the black flows with the rest of the bed trim. (See pic)

Nobody here has bothered to research whether their cab spoilers increased their mpgs or not. They had no idea what mpg they got before adding the spoiler and still don’t know what they get afterwards.
Several of them bought hybrids. If mpg was a selling point for them you’d think they would research what a cab spoiler has, or hasn't, done for their fuel economy…

The majority seems to have done it for looks, which is fine if that’s all you’re after.

If you go the cab spoiler route please, please, test and review the before and after effects and let us know what impact it has. Do the before mph with the tonneau added so as not to skew the test adding both spoiler and cover at the same time.


Since no manufacturer of vehicles puts cab spoilers on their trucks,( and they do integrate tailgate spoilers on all of them now), I doubt cab spoilers help mpg at all, and might even diminish mileage.

I have seen a Maverick with both spoilers on. The cab spoiler looked tacked on, especially the leading edge area. The only examples I’ve seen that dont look boy ricer have been painted body color which helped the look.

The tailgate spoilers integrate almost seamlessly, much more stock looking.

How is the spoiler holding up? I bought one with Ford points but I still have not installed it. How easy/ difficult was the install? I'm just worried that you only get one shot at it since it uses 3m tape. I agree that it looks factory.
