Tailgate locking issue?

I took delivery of my Mav today. I love it! One thing I noticed was that the tailgate doesn’t lock. I have an XLT so it’s got the power lock. I can hear the locking mechanism when using the key, but it never locks. I can always open it. I’ve tried manually using the key to lock it, and it still doesn’t work.

I intend to call ford dealership tomorrow about this issue, but wanted to see if anyone had experienced this.

I’m not sure what you mean. I what I meant by call ford was call the ford dealership for service.

I have a Lariat so no key but if the car is locked the tailgate is locked.

I think we all agree that the tailgate should lock or at least be lockable, but the OP's tailgate doesn't and he's asking if any of us have had this problem. I don't read every post and every reply, but I haven't seen this complaint before. Take the truck back to the dealer and let them tell you if you're doing (or not doing) something wrong and let them fix the problem. That's what warranties are for.
