Tail Gate Lock install issue

Hi, i got the tailgate lock from the dealer, when i tried to install it there is a black metal bracket that goes around where this lock would go and does not fit. has someone been able to install it ?

I didn’t realize you could buy a tailgate lock, I have just a Xlt and my tailgate locks with the key fob, I’m guessing it might not fit due to it already having one?

yes this is the lock that prevents someone from stealing the tailgate that goes in the hinges.

I'd say protection when you are using the multi-position or tailgate extender hauling items. Electric lock would only work when fully closed.

even if it's lock you just need to manipulate the locks on each side of the bed and probably open it as you can see the latch.

I am getting one because once these are selling like hotcakes and repairs need to be made on crashes, idiots gonna start stealing tailgates and that is an expensive replacement.

that's the problem where its spouse to go there is a metal bracket bolted to the gate that goes around the hinge there is no space for the tail gate lock

I believe the McGard brand is similar. They have an installation video -

I had the McGard on my F150. They're just glorified hose clamps. All they will do is make it difficult for a opportunistic thief to just twist the tailgate off and run. Any thief that has the ability to have the time to defeat the "lock" will get your tailgate anyway.
Save a bunch of money and just install a hose clamp.
