Switching Lariats to XLT?!?

This is a message I got from my sales rep at the dealership today. Not an encouraging message...

"For some reason Ford is changing our lariat orders into XLT orders so the manager has got a call into them to find out what's going on I'm leaving for the day now hopefully I'll have an answer for you in the morning"

Not yet sure if this will have anything to do with my order.

Another thread here speaks about other options being dropped by Ford.
Might this be related to their difficulty getting chips?

Realize you are new here but the overwhelming consensus on things like this is if the salesperson says it, look for a motive. If Ford says it, look for a solution.

From now on all remaining 2022 Mavericks will be built as XLs, and Ford will catch up with us to install the remaining equipment at a later date. Furthermore, Ford has begun a salvage yard reclamation program to find and recondition old Ford Escape, Ford C-Max, and Ford Fusion engine and hybrid components and computer chips for use in new vehicles. Prices will be adjusted accordingly (up, to account for the additional labor costs of the reclamation program).

Sounds like sales rep is blowing smoke (like other dealers).
I take it your retail order is just an order right now?
Maybe call Ford regarding this. It also depends how badly you want the Lariat vs XLT.
