I got a window sticker last week and even had modules populated over the weekend. Now somehow no longer in production.

To my understanding, if your mods have popped your car has been well into production. I would not rely on the tracker.

Perfection is elusive. This looked great when they taught it in college.

not just taught in college- I lived through it in my career from 1984-2014. A guy named Demming is thought of as the father of quality processes in manufacturing. He was hired by Toyota to revamp their manufacturing with an eye on improving quality which was widely depicted as horrible in the 1960s & 1970s (at least early part). Over a couple years time their cars started getting noticed for good quality and topped many lists for reliability each year. That continues today.

US car makers and other industries took notice and went all in on using Demming principals across industries to catch up. I worked for Hughes Aircraft starting in 1984 and we had an early version of Quality training that was called "Quality circles" and later worked in multiple companies using TQM (Total Quality Management) systems and customized versions of it. Then a later version called "lean manufacturing" based on JIT (Just in Time) parts deliveries was widely adopted and helped companies save $ by not storing a lot of inventory (US companies pay monthly tax on their inventories) and save space in size of their buildings without all the parts on hand, and supposedly tighten up processes to increase output and lower costs with more efficiency. Some of it really worked well, but there's an old saying "you can't inspect in quality" and it has to start with sound engineering.

The big Achilles heel we're experiencing is the outsourced supply chains. Blame that on a big push for "globalization" and moving manufacturing to places with cheaper labor and energy along with less regulations than the USA has. It remains to be seen how an on-shoring movement can succeed with all costs of doing business much higher than elsewhere (NAFTA was supposed to equalize some of this) and finding enough competent workers to staff up at all levels and produce enough quality products to meet spikes in demand for certain goods while being able to regroup and adjust quickly enough when business conditions change to stay in business in tough economic times.

Cool I was part of the team at the Nokia San Diego R&D cell phone (and later SURface tablets) facility that achieved ISO 9001/2 certification to make our EMC department an accredited test lab for FCC and other certifications. Massive months long effort by about 20 of us and pretty much a giant PITA, lol!
