it drives like normal until you paddle up or down then the gear indicator lights up and you have full control with the paddles - Then when you let off the gas for a moment or you stop using the paddles the computer takes over , the gear indicator turns off and the trans starts shifting like normal - it’s very nicely programmed from ford so you can’t hurt the truck by over revving the engine or trans -the paddles will also work in any mode - like Eco or sportWhen you use the paddles to shift, at what point does the trans go back to shifting automatically?
Thank you for that answer! Looks like the wheel you chose would compliment my MY2024 Lariat EB well... Not something that I will do right away, but I will keep a lookout for the parts. The steering wheel I installed is not heated - I didn’t research what stock application would use a heated steering wheel. I live in California, so don’t really need it. - member VTec87pr1 installed a very nice aftermarket, steering wheel with paddle shifters and it’s heated. When I did my modification, I saw the connectors for heated steering wheel, but not sure if an XL Maverick is fully equipped to power it.
That's awesome. My old mazda had that pseudo manual shifter where you could bump the shifter to the left and bump the gear up or down. Very handy going down long hills or going through school zones and I used it almost every day. It's the one thing I miss about that car.it drives like normal until you paddle up or down then the gear indicator lights up and you have full control with the paddles - Then when you let off the gas for a moment or you stop using the paddles the computer takes over , the gear indicator turns off and the trans starts shifting like normal - it’s very nicely programmed from ford so you can’t hurt the truck by over revving the engine or trans -the paddles will also work in any mode - like Eco or sport
So, a question about this install. The Maverick is still going to automatically shift when it wants because there is no 'manual' mode, correct? I mean, I get that you can initiate the shift before it does that, but aren't we still running into issues because we can't get out of auto mode? My previous vehicle was a Porsche Cayman. That had paddle shifters (well, thumb shifters) and manual mode. Even that would shift out of 1st on it's own if it felt like I had the RPM's too high in first gear.

Lighten up Robert. No one participating in this thread, osea contemplating this mod, has an interest in the Hybrid. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Go easy on us EB guys and our desire to make the already fun EB more fun. Let us enjoy this hybrid-free happy place that is this thread please. You guys would have hated the hybrid CVT transmission. It's so smooth and seamless. You don't feel any "gears" shifting ever at all. It just goes. My first car was a stick shift but man I love this. Stick shifts are a lot of work for no reason at all. If you wanted a hot rod, why did you buy a 2.0 Maverick?
Also, there are easier ways to void your warranty or destroy the resale value.

It's perplexing indeed. Unlike enabling TSR, these mods involve physical hardware changes. Each owner can customize, but such modifications should be disclosed at sale. Personally, buying a heavily modded vehicle, especially based on a YouTube video, would be a concern for me. Proper disclosure is crucial to avoid potential legal issues, but I would hesitate buying a used vehicle like this. You guys would have hated the hybrid CVT transmission. It's so smooth and seamless.
